I selected *********** to deliver a dumpster to my home as we were doing some cleanup and needed waste removal. This company was quick to call and collect payment, and the dumpster was delivered as scheduled. However, when the dumpster was picked up on August 23 the driver loaded the dumpster on their truck at an angle and did not notice. As he began to exit my driveway, the dumpster damaged an 8 foot section of my fence and the stucco on the neighbours house. We engaged the owner right away and he offered us $500 cash to fix. We (the neighbour and I) declined. He then said "he had a guy" that could fix it. We declined unless he could demonstrate they were a licensed and insured contractor. We independently got quotes to repair the damages and it is around $2700 worth of damages to the house and the fence. We shared those quotes with the owner of this company and he said he would file through insurance. I waited a week and there was no update. I followed up again, he said the insurance company wanted to use their contractors to do the repair. I said that was fine. I waited another week - no update. I followed up again. He said his insurance declined the cover the damages and that his driver could only afford $1000 in cash. We indicated that this does not cover the cost of damages, and we'd be force to pursue legal action via small claims court. he has not responded to further messages. We are getting the repairs done, and if we cannot resolve through BBB, I will be filing in small claims court to be reimbursed for the damages his company caused while the dumpster was loaded onto his vehicle. The lack of updates, ownership, and accountability from the business owner is frankly unacceptable, and I am unclear as to why his insurance would not cover these damages. When I booked the dumpster, I was not asked to fill out a waiver for liability or damages, so the responsibility to make this right is with the business owner - not the customer. Hi there, given non response from the business I have proceeded with serving them with a civil claim for the property damage.
is there a step I can take to formally file this as a complaint so others can see that how this business operates is not acceptable?
