I filed for bankruptcy with my husband back in 2012 in Red Deer, Alberta. We did all the required paperwork and made all the payments. It seems the person we were working with left and now the want close to 4000 per person to have the file reopend so at last to be discharged. We refuse to pay anymore since they kept "losing our paperwork due to staff changes. We just want to be discharged and done with this 12 year disaster.

      Good morning,

We have reached out to the client to discuss a reduced rate to re-instate the Trustee to complete the bankruptcy.  There is paperwork they did not complete to return to Court that the Court would require.  The Affidavit required for Court was sent on December 13, 2017, March 1, 2018 and July 12, 2019.  We waited 3 years and kept the files open for them prior to proceeding with the closure of the file.

The second counselling session also remains outstanding and it is required to be attended pursuant to the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act.  I have attached the email sent to them today and have attached the Court Orders which have still not been complied with to this day.

      Thank you.

I filed bankruptcy with this company and my file was completed and discharged in August 2021. Currently it is January 2022. All payments made by the Federal Government for Climate Control Incentive are being intercepted by them even though my bankruptcy is discharged and completed. I can pick the payment up which I live and work out of town so thats very difficult or I can send a self addressed stamped envelope for them to then mail me my payment, also very inconvenient. They have admitted in a email they have hundreds of clients cheques coming to them for closed files. I am more concerned that my income tax refund in February will go to them and although I eventually get the payment after making arrangements that suit them this was a difficult time in my life I want to put behind me yet here I am always having to deal with this company. They do not answer emails I send requesting updates from them as to why my personal items are still being intercepted by them and they do not respond to voicemails either. Probably because they are no longer getting money from me and I feel the same way, I would prefer to never have dealings with them again but instead I feel punished for completing my file. I completed my duties and am discharged by the courts, they should have some responsibility to complete the file on their end so I can move on from the relationship with them. I find it hard to believe they do not know how to get my direct deposit reinstated with the Government of Canada when this is their business and they had no issues in redirecting the payments while I was in bankruptcy. I would like this rectified immediately and proof that it is being worked on with a timeline of completion. If they answered emails to update a person it would not come to getting a third party involved. The overall sense is they could care less and emotionally damaging or not they will continue to insert themselves in my life.

After I had declared bankruptcy with Cameron-Okolita as my trustees, I had been laid off from my job. I had reported this to my trustees and let them know I wouldn't be able to make my normally scheduled payments until my Employment Insurance claim was finalized and benefits were being payed out. While waiting for my Employment Insurance claim, Cameron-Okolita disregarded the payment arrangements that were made and took me to court without serving me papers. I did not know that it was taken to court and that subsequently I had been restricted from accessing my RRSP funds. At the time I had found this out, I was told that I would have to pay $2400 to open my file which had been "moved to another building." I had approximately $700 in payments left to make, to be discharged from bankruptcy. These actions that Cameron-Okolita took against me, made it near impossible for me to get the discharge I had worked hard to reach towards. Now, seven years later with the bankruptcy having been removed from my credit report, I am still unable to access my RRSP funds. Neither to withdraw fully, nor to transfer to a different account.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: I was never served court papers in hand and didn't even know that I had been taken to court until I contacted Cameron-Okolita to inform them that I had income again and wanted to make payments on my account. At that time I was informed that I would have to pay $2400 to open my file in order to pay off the outstanding debt. I would love to pay the $714 to be discharged without conditions but I refuse to pay any more than the $714 that was left owing since I never received court papers. And since I am currently not working, the only way for me to pay the $714 is to have my conditions lifted so that I can sign over the $714 to Cameron-Okolita as my trustee to be payed from my RRSP assets.
      Sincerely,
      ****** ********

      Good morning,

We require current contact information for the client so we can discuss his file and options that can help him.  There is a minimum of $714 owing for the original fees but there are other duties that are outstanding as well so a final balance can not be given at this time.  We require his income and expense statements as per the  Court Order attached .  We have also attached the letter we sent when we mailed him a copy of the Court Order.

As the file is closed there is a cost to go to Court to get re-appointed on the file so we can help the bankrupt complete his duties.  If he can contact ***** ****** ** ************ we can discuss a reduction of the normal reopen fee of $3045.  We would like to try and help him complete this if he could contact us.  ***** can be emailed at **************************  She is away from the office from June 29 to July 5, 2022 and will return to the office on July 7, 2022.

      Thank you.
