      14 yrs ago i had a contractor *** ****** , install Building Products of Canada 35 yr warranty shingles on our roof. Now the the roof had to be replaced . I had a professional roofing company (***** ******* *** , of Calgary ) come to inspect my roof and attic as had leak in my kitchen ceiling around my light fixture. The inspection of my attic and roof revealed that the grit from my shingles were gone and only the fiberglass was showing. Also the the shingle were not adhering to one another so when it was windy and raining the rain came in under the shingles and leaked in onto the rafters and then our kitchen ceiling. I followed the the warranty procedure as required and was requested by the company and their representative (******* *********). When discussing the warranty with ******* , it was asked what we should expect to as a warranty and he said to my wife and i probably 100%. So he left us with expectation that we should receive a min of the warranty as laid out on on their own warranty forms . Their own warranty states that they cover 68% the cost of the replacement. I made application early spring and waited months for a reply. Even though their own warranty stated 68% they said they would do 25%. without any consultation or follow up. Also i had to use their products. It should be noted that I had no problem using their products if they followed their Warranty.

      I am rejecting this response because:

      ‘They did not respond to me and have not made any compensation to me. 
      I paid out of pocket for a complete roof replacement.


      ‘I am quoting BP’s response from Aug 25.2022 is as follows.

      ’” BP,s reasonable cost estimate for the shingles and underlayment approve in my claim is $2107.45 (tax) incl.

      BP,s liability is therefore limited to an amount of $543.30(tax incl.)” 

      I replied on the same date that this was unacceptable as it contravenes their own warranty.Also I had use their product.

      I haven’t heard from at all since then.

      I am a senior citizen and believe they are taking advantage of my self and my wife because they feel they can and don’t really care .

      Now if they want to send me cheque for $2107.45 I will accept that. 
      I will also advise my roofer that compensation was made.

      I am rejecting this response because:

      My roof had to be totally replaced. I did not have any choice in this matter as it was leaking into the house. Not just a portion or section. This was confirmed by their  own sales rep ******* ********* Who did come and take his own pictures. Also when asked he replied to my wife ***** & I that we should expect 100% replacement cost of shingles as the shingles are definitely defective.
      ‘Both my wife and myself thought if we get what the warranty BP stipulates 62.86% we would be happy with that. These shingles were definitely defective and that was confirmed by both BP’s sales rep,******* ********* & ******* ***** ********* ****** ********. It is also obvious BP are not standing behind their own sales rep in this matter as well.

      we are not asking for anything outside of the warranty.I might add that in their own warranty does  not stipulate nor does it imply that we have to use their product.  This is simply a case of a large corporation bullying a small customer without any integrity or concern for morals. 

      we are willing to accept the warranty as laid out in their own forms and what we signed for on purchase and installation of the shingles.
