      During garage cleanup I found a lot of very fine dust on the floor under the exhaust pipe of my central vacuum power unit. By phone, Ken at Big Gary's advised me to bring the unit to their store in Langley for inspection. I removed the dust bag and filter and drove to Langley. Ken asked if I noticed any holes in the filter and bag. I was not sure, but he went on with a scare story of dust going into the motors (my ***** **** has two of them), rendering them garbage. He proceeded to hard sell a new unit of the same make, impressing that I have to buy non-reusable dust bags. Later it became clear that the model is hybrid, so bags are not required. In his sales pitch he played a *********** ** ******* *** **********, and refused to answer my questions deviating from his line, e.g. did not explain the **** machine they carry. I left the store with distaste. Back home I found a small hole in the dust bag and mended it with needle and thread. I unscrewed the unit's top to confirm Ken's doom & gloom on the ruined motors. Everythong was clean inside except for a thin coating of very fine dust accumulated over 30 years of use. I cleaned it, re-connected the unit on the wall and run a few tests to see where the dust goes. Everything works fine. I even invented a way to catch the fine particles from the exhaust pipe in case another hole develops in the dust bag. Saved myself some $800. I don't recommend using the outfit, unless you can figure out your vacuum system problem and the best solution for you, not for some crook.

      According to Ken and the technician who served this customer, he was shown the dirt in the motor area. The customer says he sewed up the hole in the filter. If there is a hole in the filter, it will get into the motor. The customer was given options - to either fix the problem on an old machine, or to buy a new one. Absolutely not ** *********** ** ******* *** *********** - such an odd comment! The customer was very indignant. His wife phoned a short time later and wanted to know if her husband had been in. Ken told her that he had already left in a huff, and she was very apologetic. As a retailer, it is very frustrating to be unable to help a customer.

He did not even bother taking off the motor cover to prove his point. At home I did it m,yself at home, everything was clean inside. The machine works fine to date. Then what for the scare about ruined motor and proceeding to hard sell a new product? My wife's phonecall is just a lame excuse by the crook Ken.. I left "in a huff", not having received answers to a couple of questions posed repeatedly.. ****** * ******* * ********** ***** Ken's behaviour. Did he expect I believe his *******  w/o verifying his fable on damaged motor? * *** ** ***** ** ** * *** ** ******** ***** ******* *** * **** ** * *** ** ************* Bad luck, Ken, I have brains.
