On September 7, 2023 I enrolled in a TESL course with Oxford Seminars. The course began on September 9, 2023, and was to take place over the course of 6 weekends, ending on October 15, 2023.The course was virtual. It was understood from the beginning of the course that attendance was mandatory. It was explained that students could not miss any of the classes, as due to the fast paced nature of the course it would be impossible to catch up. I attended the first 2 classes on September 9 and 10. I live in Halifax and on September 16, there was a hurricane in Halifax resulting in, among other things, loss of power. Due to the power outage from the hurricane, I was unable to attends the classes on September 16 and 17.I was initially working with the course advisor to enrol in a later course that was to start in November, then decided against that as I preferred to withdraw from the course all together. I inquired if there would be a refund upon withdrawing. I was told I could not be fully refunded as I had already attended 2 days, but could receive a partial refund of $685 if I returned the course material. I returned the course material. I received an email on October 11, 2023 confirming the course material had been received and to call to start the process of my refund. I contacted the number in the email and was told the refund would be issued and it would take 6 weeks.After about 8 weeks had passed, I followed up to inquire the status of my refund. I was told the refund had been requested but not yet processed. This was in December. I have called at least bi-weekly since then and each time I’m told to leave my name and number and someone would follow up. I have received, no follow up phone calls, no responses to my emails and still no refund.Business response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 21554938, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I confirm the amount indicated in the response was credited to my credit card on the date indicated. The transaction is pending as it’s only been 1 day, but I have no concerns that the credit will be reflected in the next few days. I am satisfied and now consider this matter resolved. Thank you for your support in helping me resolve this matter. I had been chasing this company for months, through your intervention, it was resolved in 2 weeks. Thank you.
