I am writing this complaint regarding a vehicle purchased from Angus motors in Peterborough on April 11th, 2022. I first saw the vehicle on Friday the 8th. At this time, the dashboard displayed a check engine and tire pressure lights. Angus motors assured me both issues would be fixed by Monday when I took the vehicle home. I requested the engine light code on the Friday before I left as I wanted to know what the issue was before I committed to a large purchase. Angus's mechanic hooked up the code reader, told me the code (evap leak), and then proceeded to turn the vehicle on and off several times. I had a feeling he was just clearing the codes to save himself doing the needed work on the vehicle. Three days later my suspicions were confirmed, as both lights came back on. I put air in the tires, and have not seen the pressure light since. Using my own scanner, I confirmed the engine light was still for the evap leak, the original issue. I contacted Angus at this time and they told me they had repaired an exhaust leak, but the vehicle was still under warranty so I could bring it back for them to fix. The problem here is an exhaust leak will cause an exhaust leak engine code. An exhaust leak would not read as evap leak on the scanner In their defense, they did offer to rectify the above issue. However, I could not justify or afford to take a day of work to have my vehicle serviced by a mechanic who would clear a dash light instead of putting air in the tires and completing promised services. The main reason for my complain is today's issue. My vehicle is currently not driveable and I am left with a $900 bill to fix it. The mechanic I had the vehicle towed to said the ball joint fell out damaging cv shaft and sway bar link. This mechanic and another have both told me it is not possible that this issue was not present two months ago when I bought the car and the mechanic at Angus passed the safety inspection.
