On January 31st 2024 the sellers of a used vehicle brought said vehicle into Waterloo Nissan for a safety certificate. The safety certificate was issued by Ian S. and Paul B. The vehicle was then driven home parked and on February 2nd 2024 driven to the *** in Waterloo. It was there that we purchased the used vehicle and put it in our name. Upon driving home to Caledonia the brakes stopped working. We pulled over to assess what was going on and notice brake fluid spewing from underneath the vehicle. We have a photo of that. We called Waterloo Nissan to explain what was happening. They said we could bring it in for them to look at. They did not offer a tow which would have been a safe measure to deliver the vehicle to the dealership. We spoke to the mechanic Ian S. and the service manager Sheila after the vehicle was up on the hoist. Both Sheila and Ian stated that the vehicle would have passed the safety because it was not leaking at that time. My issue with this is that the brake lines were so heavily corroded that they should never have passed a safety. The mechanic also stated to the sellers that a dent on the bumper needed to be fixed for it to pass a safety. That is not something that is required for a safety and should not have been stated to the buyer to have fixed. Sheila and Ian both stood by the fact that that car should have passed a safety, The vehicle was then transported to ******** ****** where a independent mechanic looked at it and determined that it would not have passed a safety and that the brake lines needed to be replaced that they were so heavily corroded that they started leaking fluid. The sellers and the buyers of this used vehicle have both followed up with Sheila after it had gone to ******** ****** and still no resolution or refund has been provided to the seller or the buyer for the work that was previously done ie the safety and the bumper that did not need to be fixed or the $1,000 in break line repaire done by the buyer.
