On March 7, 2024 we signed a contract and paid the initial amount of $8576.48 to ******* ***** of Junges Home Improvement to remove our old deck and build a new deck. Over the last six months we have had to beg them to communicate with us and they have come for a few minutes a few times, and poured footings and begin to build the support, but have now cut off all communications and have not finished the deck.Business response

This is an egregious lie. We have been in contact with this customer. When they paid their deposit they were clear and ok with knowing that they were a work in. We explained at that time that it would be July at the earliest that we could start unless they were ok with it being worked in. They explained that the deck in its state at the time was so rotten that they could not go out on it at all. So when we had a chance shortly after that we tore down the existing deck which took a week because of the coating they had used on it. We then started pouring the concrete piers. After that it was a bit before we were able to get back out there but we communicated with them. Then I fractured my foot and was in a boot cast for 12 weeks and Mrs **** knew that. We had been out there and began working on the frame when she sent this complaint in, including being there while her husband was there and brought us Gatorade. We had some family issues we had to travel out of town for a few days and Mrs **** was communicated with about this. At this time we have almost completely finished 1/2 of the large 16x34' deck.Customer response

On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, I received a call from the City of ********** that they had been notified that there was structural work being done on the back of my home that was not permitted. They notified me that an inspector was on his way to post a stop order. They notified me that Junges Home Improvement had not pulled a permit and was not licensed to perform the work they were doing on my deck. A contract never should have been sent to me nor should they have ever accepted this job. I contacted ******* immediately and asked her if she would please go pull the proper permit. She texted me back that it was my responsibility. The City of ********** has notified me that it is NOT my responsibility, it is the responsibility of the builder, but because she does not have the proper license to do this work she cannot pull the permit. The city has also notified me that another contractor cannot complete the deck, because it has multiple code violations, and the entire deck will have to be torn down and rebuild from scratch. We are retaining legal counsel to recoup our deposit money in its entirety, unless it is returned by Ms. ***** willingly.Customer response
