Today, 6/18/23 here in ****, **. I was scheduled for a tuneup and the guy Braddlie the technician wanted to know if anything was going on with the unit. I said, not blowing enough cold air. He said, I needed a new compressor and three other things. He quoted me over $1600. I said, I wasnt expecting that much. ******** said, I can take off 3 items. He quoted me over $1100. I said, forget it, I dont have that much money. He was leaving and later, came back and said I have a compressor and I shouldnt be doing this, but, I can sell to you without a warranty. How much do you have? I said, $420 and Im not that naive. The other guy was putting the side panel on, but they never put in a compressor. They didnt do any work, and charged me, they scammed me out of my money.

I hired Rainforest to replace a Master Cool evap cooler. The techs were hardworking and generally nice, but this project did not go well or as planned. It was supposed to take one day; I ended up having to be home 5 days for the initial installation (kicking them off the roof after dark on one day), and frankly, there is still something wrong with the thermostat (which I've taken 2 more days trying for a resolution) so I will pay another vendor to replace once I get some time and money saved up.The techs blame the manufacturer for supplying bad parts, blame my old house and electrical, and now claim that the thermostat was designed to default to "On" and reset clock and temperature after a power outage. {Master Cool disagrees; default should be to the last setting before the power outage, which makes sense.}When everything is working, it works well. I don't appreciate having to take all the extra time off work (RF did take some money off for that), and I don't appreciate hearing why this is someone else's fault. Yes my home is old; that was apparent during the quote. And I really don't appreciate being lied to about this thermostat having shorted out and me just eating it. I spent $6k (plus all the time off) and still need to pay someone else to clean up the project.
