:Hello my name is ***************************. I live in ************* **. I am writing you to inform you of how badly I have been treated by *****. I booked for the first time a Arbib stay. I needed to find a safe , clean home for a few months . I found this Arbib that was not only in my budget but looked and was described as private, safe and clean. The host and I exchanged emails and I explained that I was a professional single woman and I was coming with my service dogs. He asked me about myself. I told him I worked for a hospital and in my spare time I enjoyed reading books. He told me that it was very private and quiet. When I arrived with my two dogs after packing all day in a uhaul it was already around 8:30 pm. I was informed that I to find parking on the street which I was OK with. When I got out of my uhal I heard 4 gun shots the block over. I quickly started to walk to the property and directly across the the arbib was a man sitting in the dark , listening to music with some strange neon lights going while smoking out of a Crack pipe. The house right next to him were a bunch of men drinking and smoking Marijuana. In a matter of one minute I witnessed atleast three drugs right infront of the property I was staying out. When I got inside I was terrified . I immediately contacted the host and explained what I witnessed , heard and how disappointed I was in the neighborhood because the host described it completely different. He told me that it wasn't gun shots but fire crackers. Mind the host was in ****** ****** . I know what gun shots are I grew up hunting and fishing. He told to give a few days. I then called Arbib help line. I explained the situation they said they were going to contact the host and they never called me back when they said they would. While all this was going on the duplex was separated by a thin bedroom door. The host said that it was attached but never mentioned by a thin door nor on Arbib site non of the photos showed this door. He made it seem like it was a private duplex that was attached by a wall. He also said respect the neighbors and keep noise down and keep things quiet. Well let me tell you not only did I hear every noise, belch and smell of Marijuana coming through the door. I heard everything you can a image . This was a house full of men. I had to whisper on the phone with the airbnb ambassador so they couldn't hear what I was saying. ( The ambassador wanted me to go outside and take pictures. There was no way i was about to do that.) When I used the bathroom the men heard. At this point I was physically and mentally exhausted. I had been packing all day . I was tired and dirty. I had to listen to there television all night long. It honestly felt like I was in the same room as them. No privacy whatsoever. If I wanted to watch something on TV I couldn't because there's was on. I told the host I read books in my spare time I wouldn't even be able to read one sentence. Absolutely no privacy. I would have felt uncomfortable to undress , take a shower etc. That's how thin this door was. The host completely misinformed, misrepresented the airbnb. I waited until morning and contacted airbnb again and the host. The host explained that the guys only smoked pot outside in the backyard and not in the house. I explained that the smell came through all night long. I got no where with him. I took pictures of the door and video taped it so you can hear how loud and transparent the guys were. On the video you can here them asking who smoked the last *****. I even took pictures of the men across the street that were still drinking in the front yard from the night before. Even when I was on the phone with one of the ambassadors they heard everything. I was instructed by one of the ambassadors to go ahead and cancel the trip. I didn't know how so not only did he instruct me to cancel but told how to do it. He told me to get my things together and leave. Not worry he was going to contact the host and immediately call me back in 15 mins. I left to go and return my uhaul . I never heard back from him. I had to unpack and rent another storage unit. While unpacking I spoke with another ambassador she assured me not to worry (I didn't buy the insurance ) that airbnb is a global company and even if the host doesn't want to reimburse me Arbnb would and I quote" this Is why airbnb has insurance" She said she would call me back and never did. When I called again I spoke with a different ambassador. This one told me they were going to place me in a new airbnb. I had no where to go and basically I was homeless with my two dogs. Nobody called me back I was sitting in a parking lot at 8:00 at night. I booked a hotel . I hadn't eaten, slept or taken a shower in two days. Not only did I lose all my money which was almost $ ***** but the next day I took $1,000 out of my retirement to get me by until I got paid but when it was deposited in my bank account airbnb took out another $488.00. I have no money to put down on a apartment because I have been spending over $100.00 to live in a hotel. I have been living in and it of a hotel since October 15th and it is now November 4th. I have no where to go. I have stayed a few times on people's couches but since I have two dogs Nobody wants me to stay. I have written airbnb dozen of emails and hours of conversation on the phone. I have requested for all the data and requested and begged for them to listen and review all conversations (since they record them) I had so many broken promises. They have passed me on to so many different employees there. Everytime I I have to explain my situation all over again. This is physically and mentally destroying me. I don't have the best credit so I have been applying for loan after loan. The couple of small ones I got are horrible interest rate. I'm late on all my bills. My mother passed away not to long ago and I'm carrying her ashes around with me in my back pack. I just got a second job today and hopefully get third. I even called to see if I can temporarily ****** my dogs which will destroy me since I depend on one of them. They are my family but I can barely keep a roof over my head. The way I have been treated and tossed around is inhumane and heartbreaking. For such a large company to treat a person like the way I have been treated is disgusting. I also looked up and sent them copies of their own terms and conditions for situations like mine and with people who didn't purchase insurance. I fit three of there criterias that I should get most of my money back. The last few conversations the ambassador said finally they were going to review and listen to the conversation and if they found that there employees instructed me to cancel my trip I would be reimbursed. That was five days ago. I called shelters but no room. I have gone in debt over this. I wrote them earlier and said I had enough and contacted a lawyer. I don't know what else to do. This host completely misrepresented the stay even knowing that I have a service dog and that I am a single woman alone. He just wanted to make money. I don't who's worse airbnb or the host. I think airbnb. I'm writing you because I don't know what else to do and I want people to know how this company is all about the money and is a complete fraud. This is destroying me in every way you can imagine. I am 51 years old and I can't believe I'm in this situation. I need my voice to be heard by somebody. Please if there is anything you can do or direct me to someone who is higher up in that company I would appreciate it. Thank for reading this very long email. My phone number is ************ just in case. Thank you again. *************************** ****** Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android Show less
