Had this company do landscaping and once I paid I found out the work was not done. This house was trying to be sold and the owner was suppose to do rock and weed mitigation.Business response

Since I began providing service to the original owners of the home in question, we developed a great relationship and never had any issues.
Eventually and sadly, one of the owners passed away and his spouse moved from this community to live with her family. Mr. Vanderveen, the son-in-law, who lives out-of-state, then decided to put the house on the market. He contacted me to clean the yard and the project was completed at the end of June. That was prior to the monsoon season and therefore there were no weeds on the property.
Mr. Vanderveen then requested that we add gravel to cover some bare spots in the yard. My professional recommendation was to add 3 to 4 tons of gravel to adequately cover the bare areas. He decided that was too much gravel, so I only added 2 tons on July 22. Any existing weeds were removed prior to spreading the new material.
On Aug. 1, the realtor claimed that there were some weeds on the property, which is not surprising since it has rained almost daily since the gravel was spread. In fact, weeds are pervasive throughout the area.
I was then asked to pour additional gravel to a corner of the property, which was completed at no additional charge in consideration of the long relationship and friendship I enjoyed with the original owner. This was communicated to the realtor and the task was completed on Aug. 7. Mr. Vanderveen then requested a copy of the gravel receipt, which I provided.
Despite that, Mr. Vanderveen later claimed that the job was never completed. The gravel was not spread on the property and there was never any communication between us until I requested payment.
That is inaccurate as I communicated via texts and calls with Mr. Vanderveen throughout the process and even exchanged photographs. Obviously there had to be communication and direction through the different phases and requests.
By demonstrating quality work, ethics and honor, I have built an excellent reputation throughout the 30 years I have been in business. My family and I live and are an integral part of this community and I will not risk all that for a mere $350 due to unfounded allegations.
As such, I will reimburse what you asked for and put this behind us and continue to concentrate on customers who do believe in my good work by supporting this local small business.Customer response
