Photo session scheduled for Nov 28th. Put in a deposit for ******. I informed we couldnt make it due to us all getting sick fever, cough, runny nose. We leave to ********** and will not be able to reschedule. Owner was not picking up my phone calls and is not willing to return my deposit for the service that was never done.Business response

A deposits sole purpose is to protect against cancelations and protect the client from anyone else booking their date. So, yes, the deposit was not returned because the session was canceled 3 days before the scheduled date and she did not call and ask for a refund until the evening before. Therefore we were unable to fill her time slot in short notice but did lose revenue by declining previous inquaries for that date and time as it is our busiest time of the year (wedding season and family holiday season).
There were countless hours that went in to planning her session, invoicing and contracting, securing the location, emails, phone calls etc. that had already gone into her session.
Additionally, we offered her the option to use her deposit as a credit at any time in the future, opposed to forfeiting it, she declined it.
In fact, we did answer her phone calls and responded immediately to all of her emails. She called us and I had missed the call and called her back within 30 seconds. This is how she received all of the information that she was unhappy with.
