I have received letters directly from carrington proving that a mortgage account is not mines along with a CFPB yet when I dispute the account on my credit report to be removed due to inaccurate and illegal information it comes back as accurate. How is something accurate when there is proof provided by the company that its not my account? I personally would never do business with this company as since they cant handle reporting accurate information to a credit report and removing it i could only imagine how they would handle a actual customer. This should never be this complicated as the proof comes directly from the company themselves yet they refuse to delete the account.Review from Shalana G

Worst company ever!!!! I called Carrington Mortgage to ask about the status of my account, while speaking with a representative on the phone, he tells me that I am behind 3 months on my payments for $1800.00, which is the month of April *** and July, sent the money to Carrington Mortgage in August, they accepted the payment through Money Gram. Now my online account locked. Called the Company and ask why my account is locked.. The only reason I was given was that Im paying too late and money has been returned back to my account. I even mentioned to them that I had financial issues going on due to hardship with job loss. That representative was rude with no empathy. August and September comes around I have contacted them again and this time Im three months behind again. The representative tells me I have to pay another ******** to bring my account up, again was not given any timeframe as to when the money needed to be pay up front. This time I am frustrated cause make it make no sense. why am always three months on my payments. Ask to speak with a supervisor for assistance was told theres no one that can help me with this situation. Called Carrington Mortgage on October 2 since my $******** payment was returned back to bank account. When I ask the representative why my money was returned her response was its not all the money and besides its a new month so now your monthly mortgage has been added to your late payments. Sent another payment last week and now that has been returned.. I was even told by a representative to just stop sending money. When I ask why she said, its not going to help bring my account to current if I try. But if they would just accept my payments and work with me because Im trying my best. And if frustrating!!!!!!! And Im stress out trying to get this situation under control.Review from Patrick K

** is a terrible customer service company. Every time i get a letter from them i get sick at the stomach because its gonna cost me money. And it always does. They constantly loose paperwork that is sent to them (like from ****************** and when you call ************ its a run around and always let me get the Special Team on the line. All these people including Supervisors cant get straight what the policies of the day are. And when you spend time on the phone explaining your situation (which is always their mishap!) you go back to the beginning and there is no resolve. They just leave you hanging with no answer or they cant help you. My latest fiasco with them was after 20 years after my mortgage with them they send me a letter that all of a sudden im in a Flood Zone and need to purchase *************** or they will buy expensive FI and charge me on my escrow. So i spent $656 for *************** and my Ins Agent sent them an email for proof. A month later i get a statement and they are adding the $656 (that i just paid for) to my mortgage payment. What??? So when i call them, there is no apology. I ask for my money back and they wont answer. They tell me i cant call a CS *** and resolve the issue i have to write a letter. I get a reply later stating they have reviewed my request to pay premium on my own every year but by law they cant let me do that, they must add it to my Mort per the ****** So i call CM and ask whats going on and can i get my $656 dollars back. I went thru 4 depts on the phone and still didnt get it resolved. I asked how can you take my $656 (which they found that copy) and then charge me $656 on my Mortgage. They couldnt answer. You would think there would be a law against that. So buyers beware! If CM gets your loan, find another Mortgage Company. Save yourself lots of headaches, time on the phone, and lots of money being legally(?) taken from you.Review from Spencer M

This mortgage company has the absolute worst customer service. They have the traditional lines "we value your business", but they do not, in face, value your business. They are here to make money. I am facing financial crisis and have fought hard to pay my mortgage payment. I have made every payment completely and on time for 2.5 years. Every year the cost to remain in the home goes up. I called in asking for any type of assistance (deferment preferred) just enough to get our heads above water. There idea of assistance is a 30 day review period where they came back with ******************************************* I was eligible for none of them except 1. This was a "payment modification" where they would lower my payment $500!! Yayyy right? Wrong. This meant growing the life of the loan by 12 years, and jacking the interest rate from 4.75 to 6.5. Then told me they would put me through a trial period where I would pay the new payment but during the trial they would report to my credit that I was at a deficit on the payment. I.e. the previous payment was 2500, new payment 2000, he's 500 short each month. This would absolutely obliterate anyone's credit and hopes of a future loan approval. Paying your payments on time means nothing. I would do everything in my power to prevent them from getting any more business if I could. That's probably why they have a one star rating. They ****.Review from John W D

September 27, 2024 This past May 29 I changed my ******************** carrier from ********** to ****. The effective date was to be June 5. While I was on the telephone with the USAA agent, he sent a notice to Carrington Mortgage services; he even read back to me all the information (my account number, your address, and the effective date of the policy change), that he sent to you AS HE WAS SENDING IT. This was done to ensure the accuracy of each detail in the notification he sent to you. Since that telephone call, I have had to re-send all of that information to you two more times.Instead of cancelling my policy on the date I requested, State Farm cancelled it (and all of my other bundled policies) a day early, on June 4, (without notifying me of the change of date), and sent me one single check for the unused days remaining on all of my policies with State Farm; their only description for the check was, (paraphrased) for policy cancellation. I therefore subsequently received from Carrington Mortgage a demand that I RETROACTIVELY furnish ONE DAY of ******************** to cover the date of June 4.I Considered the number of times I previously had to notify you that you were ALREADY properly listed on my insurance policy as the reverse-mortgage holder of record, and the inordinate amount of time I have to spend listening to each level of prompts when I try to call you, before being put on ignore while awaiting an agent to answer my call; I decided that the time and trouble I would spend going `retroactively buying ONE DAY ($3.87 vs. your $4.82) of homeowners insurance WAS MORE TROUBLE THAN IT WAS WORTH!I have now received a threatening letter from Carrington instructing me to contact you again or risk my loan being called due and payable. THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION - is everyone at Carrington an incompetent stooge, or is it only the people that I deal with? I promise that I will send a copy of this letter to your local Better Business Bureau.Review from Brenda B

Worst company ever they lie about everything and will deny payments of borrowers just to get them behind so they can go into foreclosure they will refuse to accept 1 payment out of 3 trying to force you to make 2 payments and if you dont fall for that they force you to set up a payment plan knowing ur unable to pay so u basically have to lie in order to make 1 out of three payments if not you will go into foreclosure after 4months they dont tell u you can send 1 payment in through the mail or through MoneyGram or western union they just hope you dont so you can go into foreclosure after 3months they will always say make 2 payments now or you will go into foreclosure the next month and thats not true at all they lie to their borrowers just to collect payments and if you sign up for mortgage assistance and get approved for a repayment plan they will request you pay way more then ur regular monthly payment that you are already struggling with its all done to push you into foreclosure at the end not only am I a customer but I also work there and these are all facts I would not recommend carrington mortgage to no one Im just being honest as employee and customer of ******************** they dont treat us employees that have mortgages any better !Review from Renee M

******** worst company ever! Why are they still in business? We have called a dozen times to try and figure out our statement, we get the run around everytime! We've never missed a payment, however our statement says we owe over $9,000! They've screwed our credit, and we're trying to purchase a new home.Review from Douglas O

I dont even know where to begin with this company. If you are a veteran or active duty military member and have thought about doing business with this company I would sprint the other way as quickly as possible. Carrington has made my familys lives a waking nightmare. There staff has lost almost every document we sent them when applying for a VA loan. They have misquoted fees, accidentally sent other random customers personal information (including financial statements) to our realtor, and delayed a process for over ************************************************************************* guidance was so concerning that we had to reach out to our members of Congress and the ************************************ to investigate their negligence. If you take nothing else from this short essay DO NOT do business with this company.Review from Mark B

This company bought our loan in 2021 Our payment is due on the 1st of every month. But *** told them repeatedly that I get my retirement on the 4th Wednesday of every month, which is usually from the 22nd to 28th. They wouldnt work with us, so now they say we owe around $2,000 to get account current. I guess from late fees for the last 2 years. Its definitely one of the worst my wife and I have been with
