11/17/21 I purchased two slabs of granite from Granite Expo in **********. After paying them $1902.81, they would not let me look at the slabs, which were hidden behind other granite. When we picked up the slabs, we were still not allowed to look at them to pick the ones we wanted. When we loaded two onto my contractors truck he noticed some flaws. My money was nonrefundable. We took the slabs to the fabricator who stored them without looking at them until we needed them. The project got delayed and and when he looked at them to cut them, he found they were *******************, cut wrong, not matched and unusable. They also were supposed to be numbered so they would match but they were not. I went immediately to Granite Expo to ask for replacement slabs or a refund or any remedy, and they refused anything. I will have to dispose of these slabs and buy entirely new ones. They sold me $2000 worth of defective granite and they either knew it and just scammed me or never checked their inventory to be sure it was not defective. Theyre a large, busy store of a large corporation and it never occurred to me theyd be selling defective products with absolutely no remorse. When I read other reviews, I found Im not alone and apparently theyre scamming lots of people. This company should not be in business. They are crooks. $1900 is a great deal of money to me and Granite Expo stole it from me. Please help me get even some of it back and protect others from this!

      Hi ******,

In response to the complaint, the customer has purchased ********************** slabs. Granite is a natural stone, there are no guarantees for color style and pattern. Customer has signed and inspected the goods and service before leaving the store with the goods. Please see below.

I am rejecting this response because:

Granite Expo's statement is not true. They did not allow me to see the granite slabs prior to purchasing them. I bought the slabs assuming they would look like the sample in the show room, which is what they allowed me to see before I purchased two slabs. When they finally pulled out two slabs from the warehouse to load them them onto the truck, the slabs were covered with a thick **** dirt that obscured the imperfections, and GE didn't allow me to get close enough to evaluate the slabs. Granite Expo already insisted my money was non-refundable by that time, so even if I had been able to see the imperfections, they would not have refunded my money, according to their policy.

Once the fabricator saw the granite, he knew these were not legitimate slabs meant for retail sales. He showed us several defects that came from how the granite developed in the earth. He said this quality of slab is meant as a free sample to the retailer to show them what they can order, not ever to be sold to anyone. Granite Expo had to know what they were selling me was nowhere near retail quality, from the broken-off, ragged rather than cut edges, from the numerous chips in the formation of the rock, from the very uneven color pattern, and from the crack. No legitimate granite retailer or wholesaler would sell these stones. If I'd been allowed access to the slabs before paying for them, I would never ever have bought them. These were not normal variations that stones have; these were extremely defective stones that needed to be discarded, not sold.

After I showed Granite Expo the defects and they refused to refund my money, I had to buy replacement granite for all of it. The contrast with the granite store where I bought the replacement slabs was 100%. All of their slabs were evenly cut into a rectangle. They pulled out the slabs I was choosing from and cleaned them so I could get a good look at them. They had no defective slabs in the store, so in addition to my own evaluation, I could rely on their inspecting and only selling usable products.

This retailer is lying and intentionally cheating not just me, but numerous others who have posted reviews all over the internet about Granite Expo selling defective products and services to them and refusing any return, refund or other remedy. Even the BBB website has complaints about their practices.

      Sincerely,

      Cyn *****

Had a custom countertop installed by Granite Expo, Stockton. I have an "L" shaped kitchen and have issues with the countertop popping up at the seam. I had contacted the business about a 18 months after the installation, and they sent someone out, not the installing contractor to fix it. When the countertop repair person came out the first thing that they said was the countertop had not been installed correctly. one side of the countertop is sticking up about 1/4" from the other side of the countertop. So to fix the problem the contractor used a s**** to push up the countertop apply some epoxy filler and said it was fixed.About a couple months later the countertop is worse than it was before granite expo came out to fix it. I contacted Granite expo again multiple times with no response. Would like resolution for improper installation of my countertop!
