I have a comparatively larger cup to disc ratio and also my grandma had glaucoma, so I am recommended to have an annual preventive exam for glaucoma. My *************** 100% covers the preventive glaucoma exam. When I made an appointment with Mission Valley Eye Medical Center, the presentative confirmed with me that the glaucoma exam that they provide will be covered by my *************** and I only have a $20 co-pay. However, I received a **** over $600 which I need to pay by myself. I contacted the billing department of Mission Valley and they told me that the doctor only provides specialist service which is not covered by insurance. I argued with ******** department and asked why the Mission Valley gave me incorrect information when I made the appointment. The billing department had an internal discussion and offered me a 50% discount on the billing. However, when I contacted their payment department, they told me that they needed to contact their billing department and would call me back in one hour, but I never received any call back. Then I contacted their billing department again and they said they need to check it again and will call me back in an hour, but, again, I never received any call back from Mission Valley. It is a terrible experience with Mission Valley. They provided me wrong information when I made appointment and then never gave me the call back. I am only responsible for the $20 co-pay and I am not supposed to pay any additional fee due to the incorrect information provided by Mission Valley.
