I sent a Solarmax PST for repair on 6/4/24 and I have a *** receipt showing it was received on 6/10/24. I was told it would **** * to 8 weeks for the repair. Meade 's customer service phone Wil not take a message and they say an email will be responded to in two business days. I have sent several emails in the last three weeks and have had absolutely no response. I want my telescope returned repaired and I am willing to pay a reasonable repair cost, but I want my repaired telescopeInitial Complaint

I ordered a Meade LX 85 during the pandemic, was not able to purchase the 607 DC cable to power up unit as they were unavailable. Here we are in 2022, finally found the proper 607 DC cable via an end user on ***** Tried powering up the scope, no power. Checked the 607 DC cable with multimeter to make sure it was delivering 12 volts in which it was. Turns out the power panel on scope is bad. Called Meade, they want $350 and shipping to repair it. Keep in mind this scope has never been used, its sat in my office, has never been transported except during delivery. According to most reviews on here, even if I did send it in, they would have it in the repair port for months. I understand its not under warranty, they should send me a new power panel that mounts between OTA and tripod. Miserable experience and the Meade phone rep who I talk to everytime probably because hes the only rep they have is not good at customer service. Wont buy ********************** again unless this gets resolved.Business response

As the product owner states they recognize the item is not within warranty while requesting parts be sent at no charge. We will not be able to satisfy this request and our flat rate repair fee for the product as quoted is $350.Customer response

I will keep this complaint on file. This is a them issue, not me. And if I had to make a judgment call according to most of their reviews on this matter, I am not going to send that part in for repair and have them keep it in their hands for 8 to 12 months, which is what Ive seen on most of these better business bureau complaints.Business response

Our repair turn around time is currently around 8 weeks. We cannot say we understand the complaint since the submission itself states it is understood the item is outside of warranty. We do not have components available to send so repair is the best option and this is not a no charge repair.Customer response

the warranty doesnt hold any merit in this case. The 607 12 volt DC cable was not available when I purchased the scope and it still isnt available anywhere. I happened to find a used one which is the only reason I recently had the opportunity to power it up. Maybe you should make sure other accessories are in stock before selling scopes. There was no way to even test the scope during the warranty period because the 607 cable was not available.
