I booked an event to take place at this establishment for the date of November 11th, 2023. I was made aware that this establishment was going out of business and not refunding any of the money to book my event. I went in person to request more information from **** and **** (only first names were given) they would not provide any further. They only stated that we would receive a letter from their attorney without providing an attorney's name and phone Number. The letter received states that the building has structural damage causing them to close the business. Not able to refund any of the money collected for my event that has not taken place. Payments made and given First payment Personal Check November 11, 2022 Amount $2,000 Second Payment Cashier check January 14, 2023 Amount $2,000 Third Payment Cashier Check March 28, 2023 Amount $2,000 the information was written by the coordinator to the hall at the time named *****, and the last payment was accepted by **** and added to the attached document.Initial Complaint

On May 29, 2022, I visited the Monte Cristo Banquet Hall (now known as ******) to book my daughter's Quinceaera, scheduled for July 22, 2023. Since then, there have been no issues regarding the event between the owner and me, and no warnings were given about the establishment closing or any future cancellations. I have regularly paid the contracted amount of $14,000 in check payments every three months. I have spent a total of $6,000 on the banquet. However, when I recently visited the venue to make another payment, I went to the establishment to inquire further. I spoke with the owner, who claimed to be an employee instead of the owner. The not so claimed owner informed me that they were still determining if the banquet hall would remain open and could no longer accept my payment. This concerned me, as I had spoken with the same person when my sister had her quince party six years ago. I requested a refund from the owner, but he refused and said he did not have my money. I am frustrated by the lack of communication and transparency regarding the establishment's potential closure, and I discovered this has happened to multiple people on ****** reviews. With my daughter's event quickly approaching, I need my money back to book another banquet hall. However, my attempts to resolve this issue with the owner have failed. Despite my attempts to contact them, *** received no response or updates after the fact.
