I ordered an Ultra HD Blu-Ray ******* OPPO UDP-203 (Order ID: ******* from Oppo for $549, plus another $50 for the Disc to properly configure and test it, for a grand total (including $12 shipping and $43.43 tax) of $654.43 on 12/21/2017. The unit had some issues almost immediately with the network losing WiFi connection, so I opened a repair ticket and was going to send the unit back for a replacement or refund, but I ended up just using an Ethernet cable, and I purchased a separate component to handle the streaming services, basically bypassing this unit from Oppo. In other words, I've only been using it to play physical discs. However, recently I received an alert that it needed a Firmware update, and I clicked the button to perform that update, and the unit "bricked". An error message appeared on the screen saying I needed to return this unit to Oppo Technical Support. I contacted them, and they provided an address of where I needed to ship the unit to have their Tech Support team perform the firmware update themselves. However, I'm now realizing this was a scam to get their hands on my unit, as they are upselling them online for around $3,999! I've contacted the Customer Support and Tech Support teams numerous times, every single day since I sent it back to them on 11/12/2021. Every time there is either a generic response, or someone tells me that they refunded this charge back when I filed the original Warranty claim in 2018. However, as I've pointed out to them, I never received any refund at that time. I've never heard of a company refunding a charge before actually receiving the order return, so their explanation is completely illogical. They have tried to show internal records, but that doesn't mean anything unless I actually received the funds back in my account, which I never did. Furthermore, they refuse to send my unit back to me, even though I paid to ship it to them in good faith, as they promised to repair the firmware and ship it back to me.
