Justia put up a listing for me as a lawyer showing that I was practicing law in ******, ******. I did work for a law firm in ****** over 14 years ago, but have long ago left ******. The site shows me as having an address and practicing law there today. As a US citizen, under current sanctions laws, that is a federal crime! It is clearly false and, since it constitutes a crime, it is defamatory. I wrote to them, and they removed it for 24 hours, then put up another one with essentially the same information. I need your help in resolving this. Here is the link in question:**************************************************************************** This is causing me huge problems, my accounting firm has dropped me as a client because of this. Please help!

      Hi Nat:

Please note that **************** is not a Justia client.

**************** complains that his personal information is on our website.

Justia provides access to lawyer information located in the public record. We do so as a free public service. The listings in question relate to ****************** association with the State Bar of *****, the State Bar of California, and the District of Columbia Bar.

The information provided on these bar association websites are in the public record. Justia uses public information to generate profiles on the Justia Lawyer Directory. Furthermore, Justia has generated a process by which lawyers may remove their information from the Justia Lawyer Directory by first claiming their profile(s). This requirement is in place so that unauthorized third parties may not remove or tamper with a lawyers information.

However, even though we are under no legal obligation to do so, Justia promptly responded to ****************** initial email request, dated Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at 9:23 a.m. Pacific Time, to remove his information. At that time, **************** provided a single link to a listing. Justia removed the information contained at that link and replied on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time, informing **************** that his information was removed.

**************** replied on Friday, June 23, 2023, at 1:59 a.m., Pacific Time, alleging that we replaced the removed listing with another listing. This is untrue. We performed a more thorough search of our site and removed the preexisting listing identified by **************** from our site.

We wrote back to **************** on Friday, June 23, 2023 at 1:17 p.m. Pacific Time, apologizing for the oversight and informing **************** that all his information was removed from our site.

      Hi Nat,

Please note: **************************** is not a Justia client.

**************************** complains that her sealed court opinion is on our site.

Justia provides access to federal and state court dockets, filings and opinions located in the public record. We do so as a free public service. The matter in question refers to a ******************* of Appeals decision, Inchaustegui v. ***************************************************** Reports and North Eastern Reporter, Second Series (96 ****2d 111; 749 N.E.2d 196).  We do not see a record of this decision being removed post-publication from these reporters.

Even though we are under no legal obligation to do so, Justia will reasonably provide accommodation to block public record case filings and opinions on our site from appearing in search engine results using the robots.txt protocol.  Justia provides a form for submission of such requests along with a more detailed explanation of our public record court filings and opinions here:
      ***********************************************************************

We have no record of **************************** submitting such a request directly to us.

As a courtesy, we have now submitted a robots removal request regarding Ms. ************* opinion, however, **************************** is advised we have no control over how long it will take any search engines to remove this or any other opinion. For any future correspondence, **************************** should contact us at **********************************.

Why does this company have an A+ rating given all of the complaints? They are exploiting others by posting information that is personal and making a profit while doing so. They are dishonest in their email responses and blatantly capitalize on the past mistakes of others. They pretend as though they are doing the world a service by providing free access to "public information" when in reality, they are a for profit organization, in it for the money. I have made numerous requests that they remove my information from their site and they refuse. They claim to only be able to deindex it, but even that they don't do properly.
