I moved out of my apartment on 30JUN2024. I am trying to get my back and I requested an updated on the status of Deposit check return. I have called the facility many times. Most of the time I don't get to speak to anyone and goes to voicemail and I leave a message. A few times I actually spoke people in the Apartment front office and they tell me they would get back to me. I have emailed the facility staff distribution list and management and I had not received any responses Tuesday (23JUL2024) and he said he was going to help. I still have not been able to get any new information on my deposit. I understand California Law states that the landlord must send an itemized statement explaining in detail any deductions from the security deposit within 21 days after move-out. I have a lot of concerns that I am going to continue to be ignored as they have been very incompetent when it comes to services, requests, or emergencies in the past. I am concerned that they are not just incompetent but they at are also crooks trying to steal people's deposit. I've seen of the complaints from other consumers about having issue getting their deposits back. I would appreciate it if you were to be involved and help me talk to the management office at Villages of Monterrey because they are completing ignoring me. It's really frustrating that I can't do about it myself.

Current paid parking spot, assigned to home, is immediately next to the community dumpster. One morning, our family vehicle had a window shattered due to negligence of transients or other residents digging through or moving trash around the vehicle. An object from the dumpster struck the window and shattered it. We needed to pay for a new window that week. This space is too close to the community dumpster where our vehicles are in danger of damage like this, trash piling up preventing us from entering our vehicles, and subject to potential vandalism since this area has been graffitied on before. We've contacted the Management team of this apartment twice and there has not been a response to this issue. We simply requested a new parking space away from the dumpster but still relative to where our Unit is located and they cannot ***** this request. We've asked for other alternatives and none has been presented to us. We don't believe it's safe, fair, nor reasonable to subject our vehicles to potential damage if we continue parking in this space. Leaving us to constantly trying to find unassigned spots in the complex that are taken up by other community members. Please see attached documents for email correspondence and images of damages.

These apartments have been known for their mold issues. I have moved in four months ago, and my neighbor has had a complaint for months about a leak in her bathroom when the leak became a bigger issue, we noticed mold, growing from my floor, going up the wall moldings.. I addressed this to Maintenance and the leasing office and they took over a week to reply about it. Once they addressed the issue, they sent over a third-party water restoration company to remove the wall and replace it with a new drywall and they left a dehumidifier machine in my room. Yet they have not fixed the leak next-door, which is connected to my bedroom, hence the water from the leak going through my wall. I have been complaining for over a month about a moldy smell to the point where I get headaches and allergy attacks in my bedroom. I have not slept in my bedroom for over two weeks and I keep persisting that there is a mold issue in there still it smells as if there is heavy mold in the bedroom and its still has a chemical smell left over from when they did the water restoration process I have two small children who live with me, and I have been living in their bedroom as we cannot step foot in my room because of the heavy smell . I have had their third-party restoration company come out four times to only tell me that there is mild witness in the wall and floor still and they will not replace the rug or padding. Since the leak next-door is ongoing I am confident that my walls and floors are still extremely wet and causing major mold inside the walls to which they will not address and they told me that since they replaced the walls it is not their problem to keep fixing the leak. When the water restoration worker used his machine on my floors, it showed 100% moisture level but he told me that he cannot do anything unless the leasing manager were to tell him to fix it. I am seeking help for the safety of my two children who are very prone to allergies and asthma attacks. Please help!

This is a response to BBB complaint #******** on behalf of Villages of Monterey.

*********************************** moved into Unit ***** at Villages of Monterey on April 19, 2023. Before she moved into the unit, the unit was professionally treated by a third party water intrusion remediation company in response to a prior leak. The third party vendor completed repairs including removing and replacing drywall and carpet, HEPA vacuuming, and moisture testing.

On May 14, 2023, **************** reported a concern with potential organic growth in her unit. We inspected and addressed those concerns on 5/17/23.

Management has consistently responded to all of ****************** concerns and requests relating to maintenance of the unit. We have had our third party water remediation vendor inspect the unit. Further, we offered **************** the option of transferring to another apartment on 8/24/23, which she rejected, and the option of breaking her lease agreement early without penalty.

On August 29, 2023, the unit was tested by an independent certified industrial hygienist, who confirmed there was no elevated moisture in the unit and the unit was appropriate for habitation. The certified industrial hygienist found that moisture levels inside the unit were comparable to levels outside the unit. These results were provided to **************** on 9/12/23.

**************** ultimately accepted Managements offer to terminate her lease agreement early without penalty. **************** has since vacated the property as of 9/26/23.

on the contrary, the whole situation was not handled very professionally at all by management, **************** and ********. After dealing with you issue for months, they kept brushing me off and brushing me off, despite saying they handled it. I was told I would be transferred then last minute told they are terminating my lease. I had to scramble and find new shelter. I reached out to their corporate department, ***********************, who was very kind and compassionate. It is then when things were handled. She offered to have me transferred because of how management on site has treated me like a nuisance for complaining on and on about the horrid smell in my unit. I only agreed to terminate my lease, because of how management treated me the entire time.
