I opened a business checking account with ****************** on 7/22/24. Their deposit bank is **********************. I used the promotional code NWCHECK724. These terms are attached. I was to receive $300 upon completion of the requirements listed. I completed all of the requirements on October 15, 2024. I then received an email from Bluevine on November 7, 2024 (attached) saying that they modified the terms (after I had completed the requirements) and that I would need to start over. The key change they made is the following statement:"As of November 7, 2024, New Customers must also maintain a minimum daily balance of $2,000.00 in their Account beginning on the 31st day after account opening and ending on the 120th day after account opening."In conclusion, they advertised terms over three months ago then changed them right before paying out to customers. This is fraud and false advertisement. It is clear that they changed these terms to build up their deposits without paying the $300 bonus to their customers. I am seeking they honor the terms (as I have) and pay out the $300 bonus that I completed the requirements for.Business response

I am rejecting this response because:Changing terms after I have already signed up (e.g. accepted the terms) is a breach of contact and a deceptive act by the bank. Laws are being broken. They think they can change the terms because their terms say so, but when banks include that item in their terms, they are talking about for new applications. I am not redoing requirements when you think you can change them at any point. I expect you to honor your end of the contract (as I honor mine) and will pursue all means to enforce it.

I opened a business checking account with ****************** on 10/5/24. Their deposit bank is **********************. I used the promotional code NW300. These terms are attached. I was to receive $300 upon completion of the requirements listed. I am well underway of completing the requirements I signed up for. I then received an email from Bluevine on November 7, 2024 (attached) saying that they modified the terms (terms which were not included when I signed up) and that I would need to start over. The key change they made is the following statement:"As of November 7, 2024, New Customers must also maintain a minimum daily balance of $2,000.00 in their Account beginning on the 31st day after account opening and ending on the 120th day after account opening."In conclusion, they advertised terms at the time of signup then changed them in the middle of customers working on said terms. These terms differ from the time of signup. This is fraud and false advertisement. It is clear that they changed these terms to build up their deposits over a longer time period.I am seeking they honor the terms that were in place at the time of my signup and pay out the $300 bonus once I complete these terms.Business response

In July 2024, Bluevine promoted a $300 bonus for opening a new business checking account and meeting specific conditions (attached). I opened my account during this offer period, completed all required actions in August, September, and October 2024, and met the conditions. According to the promotion, the $300 bonus was to be paid by November 10, 2024.However, on November 7, 2024, Bluevine retroactively modified the promotion terms, making my account ineligible for the bonus just three days before payment was due. This adjustment suggests an intent to avoid fulfilling the offer to customers who had already met the original conditions. I immediately contacted Bluevine about the issue, but have not received a response. Such practices are unfair, as they allow companies to draw in new business with an offer and then change the terms once customers have acted in good faith. I request that the BBB require Bluevine to honor the original terms of this promotion for customers who met the requirements before the terms were changed.Business response

I am rejecting this response because:
The business reached out to me but only to reiterate that they do not intend to fulfill promises made to customers. This is not a satisfactory remedy.Bluevine changed its promotional terms AFTER I had already fulfilled those terms and IMMEDIATELY PRIOR to the date of the bonus payment. This is a bait-and-switch tactic. It is unethical and violates consumer financial protections.
Please provide payment, as I have satisfied all promotional criteria.

Complaint: 22540148
I am rejecting this response because:Your team has indeed reach out to me, but has not worked to resolve the issue. I'm not interested in justification for a bait-and-switch tactic. Rather, I'm looking for an apology for employing such a tactic and for the $300 bonus to be paid.
If Bluevine was unhappy with its original terms and conditions, it could have changed those terms during the 100+ days that I worked to fullfill the terms. Instead, Bluevine waited until 3 days before I should have received payment, changed the terms, and denied payment. The timing of the change clearly illustrates that Bluvine is operating in bad faith. Please pay the $300 bonus. Any communication from Bluevine that does not indicate immediate payment is unwelcome.
Sincerely,

I opened a Bluevine checking account as I was lured in by the $300 bonus offer they had. The bonus was get $300 if you spend $2,000+ on their credit card three months in a row. I completed the bonus requirements. Then at the end of three months I get an email from Bluevine stating they have changed the terms and conditions of the bonus and I get a chance to retry. What a joke. I want the bonus. I have all the original terms saved and screenshots of everything.Business response

I am rejecting this response because: I completed all requirements set forth in the original terms and conditions. After I completed all the requirements, the company changed the terms and conditions to not award the bonus. Had I not completed all requirements before the terms and conditions were changed I would understand. However, all requirements were met and the company is responsible to credit the $300 bonus. The company refuses to just give me a call, they don't seem to value my business speak to me like a person. Instead, they send out canned email responses. I'm aware of many other account holders that are in my same position. A truely dispicable act by Bluevine.

This is regarding a bank bonus in which terms were agreed upon in July 2024. Bluevine changed the terms 11/8/24 right before payout of $300 was supposed to occur. Here is the email Bluevine sent changing the terms and my response which has gone unanswered:My response:With all due respect, I believe it is inappropriate for you to change the terms after I have signed up under the original terms, and especially after I have completed the requirements. I urge you to reconsider this and apply my bonus under the original agreement, otherwise I must file a complaint regarding this. Please get back to me as soon as possible to resolve this.Thank you,******** *********** From: Bluevine <***************************************************************************>Sent: Thursday, November 7, 2024 3:00 PM To: ********************* <*********************>Subject: Important Update on Bluevine Signup Bonus Eligibility Requirements Signup Bonus Eligibility Requirements Hi ********,Were reaching out to inform you about an update to one of the eligibility requirements for our promotional sign-up bonus. I am rejecting this response because:They responded to me by saying they are not paying the bonus and they changed the terms, which is the exact same thing they said in the original notice 3 days ago.
My response is the following:
I stand by my feelings that you are wrong in changing the terms after the fact and I will continue to fight for this bonus that I earned. The fact that you did this right before the bonus was to be paid makes it even worse. I will continue to work with the BBB and other agencies to fight for what I earned.

Please note that Bluevine partners with **********************. I signed up for the Bluevine business checking bonus on July 7 2024 with the promo code NWCHECK724 and completed the requirements for the bonus on October 16 2024. On November 7 24 I received an email that Bluevine was changing the terms and conditions of the bonus completely to include brand new terms and conditions that would now disqualify me from receiving it, even though I had already completed the criteria stipulated at my account opening. ****************** according to its own terms and conditions should have paid out my bonus by November 10 2024 as from their own requirements they said Bluevine will deposit the bonus into their Bluevine Business Checking Account by the tenth day of the month that follows the month in which the last requirement was met which for me was October. I provided screenshots of the original terms and conditions under which I signed up and then the changed terms and conditions that Bluevine put out - apparently in order to not pay out the bonus to all who had already met the criteria for it. The original terms were: "After opening your account, add funds within 30 days, then meet at least one of the following eligibility requirements every 30 days for the next 90 days from account funding. Deposit at least $5000 from eligible merchant services to your Bluevine account. OR Make at least $5000 of outbound payroll payments from your Bluevine account using eligible payroll providers. OR Spend at least $2000 with your Bluevine Business Debit Mastercard and/or Bluevine Business Cashback card." I completed these terms in full on 7/26, 9/6, and 10/16 and sent screenshots of those transactions in my account.Business response

I opened a BlueVine Business checking account ************ on 7/27/2024 with promotion code NWCHECK724 for $300 bonus by meeting the requirements stated in the terms and conditions in the attached screenshots. I met the all requirements and was expecting to receive the $300 bonus by 11/10/2024.However, BlueVine emailed me on 11/07/2024 that they updated the promotions terms and conditions and based on the revised eligibility requirement, I am no longer eligible to receive the $300 sign-up bonus, as attached.A company should not change the terms and conditions after a customer signed up for the service and met the requirements for the bonus based on the original terms and conditions and deny to pay the bonus to those who met the original requirements. BlueVine changed the terms and conditions 100 days after I signed up the service and just 3 days before the date where they were supposed to pay the $300 bonus for satisfying the requirements in the original terms and conditions. This is unacceptable.I also included a screenshot of my transaction history of this account, proving that I made $2000 or more transactions every 30 days for 90 days, as in the original requirements for the bonus. The requirement I met was Spend at least $2000 with Bluevine Business Debit ********** every 30 days for the next 90 days from account funding.I funded my account on 8/5/2024. The first 30 days was 8/5/2024-9/3/2024. I spent $2000 in total on 8/8/2024, using my Bluevine Business Debit **********,The second 30 days was 9/4/2024 10/3/2024. I spent $2000.02 in total on 10/4/2024.The third 30 days was 10/4/2024 11/2/2024. I spent $2000 in total on 9/6/2024.I further spent $2000 in total on 11/4/2024, which is during the fourth 30 days. Thus, I met the requirement stated in the original terms and conditions.I request them to pay the $300 bonus as advertised and promised, since I met the requirements of stated in the original terms and conditions that I signed up for.Business response

I am rejecting this response because:The company Bluevine sent the email below to me.
Bluevine advertised their business checking account product with the fake and false advertisement of the $300 promotional bonus with a certain defined requirements.
After customers opened the checking account and spent $2000 every month with their debit card in order to meet the promotional requirements and a few days before the bonus payout day, Bluevine modified the requirements for the bonus retroactively and based on the modified requirements they deny to pay the bonus to customers who met the original requirements. Business should not use fake and false advertisement to lure or ***** customers. Fake and false advertisement is illegal act.
I request them to pay the $300 promotional bonus to me.
