On July 27, 2023, I started a project on Yelp to get quotes for garage door repair. I was promptly contacted by Safety Garage Door Repair to schedule a free estimate. Initially, I thought the estimate would be given over the phone, but *** from Safety Garage Door Repair informed me that an in-person visit would be better. I provided my address as requested. A few hours later, technician ****** arrived to inspect the garage door and provide a quote. I informed him that I was only seeking an estimate and would reach out if I decided to proceed. ****** seemed upset by this and mentioned that he had driven a long distance for the in-person estimate. I explained that I had requested a phone consultation and preferred it for convenience, but it was Safety Garage Door Repair that insisted on an in-person visit. I felt it was unfair for him to express frustration towards me. ****** quoted $250 for fixing the cable and $450 for labor to install a new garage door opener I had purchased from ******. He mentioned that the total cost of $700 was for labor alone and that the installation would take about 40 minutes. The cost seemed exorbitant--$700 for 40 minutes of labor, which is more than some doctors and lawyers charge. Nonetheless, I thanked him for coming. Later that night, I decided to write a review on Yelp detailing my experience. The next day, ****** showed up at my house unannounced, seemingly to convince me to remove the review. Since I was not home, my family informed him of my absence. I later spoke with ****** on the phone, and he asked me to remove the review. I explained that my review was not negative but a description of my experience. An hour later, ******'s boss, ***** (believed to be the owner), called me and also tried to persuade me to take down the review. When I refused, ***** became upset and verbally attacked me, using the phrase, "I don't even want to work with you, you cheap s**t!" I was deeply disturbed by this encounter and the aggressive behavior.
