On June 21, I was admitted to ** General Hospital. I requested a Protein Urine Test for suspected preeclampsia. I alerted the Doctor that this was the only test I consented to. I spoke to several financial advisors with the hospital to confirm the pricing of the test. No one could tell me the approximation of this invoice, therefore violating the 2021 Hospital Price Transparency Act. When I received the ***** *** hospital had added a wild array of different unrelated charges. This invoice is incorrect. I have reached out to the hospital's finance team on 4 separate occasions. On April 20th, I sent a formal bill dispute. *** formal dispute outlined that the bill I received for $4,800 listed services I did not request or receive. In addition, the lab ordered unnecessary tests that I did not authorize. Lastly, I was charged a full rate, for a birthing room that I barely spent 3 hours in and none of the equipment worked during that time. From April 2022 to December 2022, after 13 calls, 5 voicemails, 3 emails and 1 certified letter, I still had no received an updated invoice or a response for the hospital. In June 2023, I received a notice of delinquency from the county. Through contacting the county, I was finally able to receive an updated invoice. However, "revised invoice" remained as a total of over $2k, that continued to include an array of labs that I did not authorize and room&board. *** County collection is unable to revise the invoice and the hospital remains unresponsive for the last year. I need help getting this completed.
