      Business response

      07/20/2023

On April 21, 2023 the client called Accion Opportunity Fund (AOF) to inquire about a payoff letter for a loan made by Accion Opportunity Fund ********************** At the same time, the client asked about taking out a second loan.He also said there were past due payments reflecting on his credit report about the loan. He was advised to file an E-***** dispute if he felt the credit reporting was inaccurate. A pay off letter was sent to the client as requested on April 22, 2023.
The client filed an E-***** credit dispute on May 16, 2023. This dispute was reviewed and investigated in a timely manner by AOF personnel, and no error was found, and no changes were made.
On June 2, 2023, the client called and spoke to a supervisor asking why no changes were made in response to his credit dispute. He was directed to email the ******************* at AOF who researched the issue and provided the following response the same day.
Thank you for reaching out to Accion Opportunity Fund. I am sorry to hear about any inconvenience you are experiencing with your credit report. I reviewed your account, and based on all the notes and communication, the late status of your payments is being reported correctly.
Your January 2023 payment was returned as NSF by your bank. Our Payment Support Team reached out to you to notify it was returned and set up a new payment to bring your account current. You set up a one-time payment for February 8th to cover both the January and February payments on the loan, and this payment was also returned as **** We were notified by the bank on February 15th of the **** and at this time, the January payment was already past 30 days late.
Our Payment Support Team reached out to you on February 15th regarding the **** You replied the next day, February 16th, and our team responded to you same day explaining the payment must be done over the phone and asked for the best time to reach you. The next correspondence we have from you is dated March 10th, at which time the February payment had now passed 30 days late as well.

The client responded to the email on June 3, 2023, and explained that he had missed the email sent in February because of the high volume of emails he receives daily. The client requested an additional review and exception to allow the reported delinquencies to be removed from his credit report. AOF determined that there were no errors in the reporting and that no changes would be made to the client's credit report on June 9, 2023.

On July 5, 2023, AOF received a dispute via E-***** claiming that the loan does not belong to the client. This complaint was filed with the Better Business Bureau on July 11, 2023, and a second E-***** dispute was received on July 13, 2023, also claiming that the client was not responsible for the loan.

AOF has reviewed this loan carefully and no errors in reporting the delinquency status of this loan were made. Before July 5, 2023, the client never asserted that he was not responsible for the loan. His initial contact with AOF was relating to a payoff letter for the loan.
