I paid ******* to widen the front wheel wells on my Silverado. After the work was completed, they recommended I purchase a Camburg Long Travel Kit. When I picked up the truck, I noticed rough driving at over 35 mph. I examined the suspension components to discover I had received only a pair of camburg upper control arms, not the long travel kit. I called ******* and they stated that I got everything to make a long travel kit except the lower control arms. I did not understand this and felt I was extremely overcharged. While driving on the 405 freeway, I heard a loud grinding noise, the power steering went out and a power steering reduced message appeared on my dash. I managed to get my truck to the Culver City Chevy dealership. The Dealership determined the axle shaft broke which then caused the loss of power steering because the force damaged the power steering gear. They stated that the poor geometry of the suspension components solely contributed to the premature wear of the front axle components. ******* had the truck towed to their shop. After their inspection ******* claimed that the broken components were a result of the differential work and gave me a quote for repairs. I declined any further work and paid to have the truck towed to my home. I then arranged the installation of the complete camburg long travel kit from Camburg Off Road Shop. I took my truck to Ace Automotive for the repairs. They also noticed that the geometry of the lift was incorrect. They replaced the axle shaft and seal and the power steering motor/module. They were unable to reset the steering wheel position sensor module, so AutoNation Chevrolet replaced the steering angle sensor and programmed the control module. I drove the truck to Camburg to have them install their long travel kit. Upon pick up they mentioned that the work I had done previously was done incorrectly.

      Business response

      05/31/2022

Business Response /* (1000, 11, 2022/05/20) */ On 6/16/2021 ****** ******* came to Genesis 1 Auto Concepts to have us modify his front internal fenders flares and adjust coil overs to have his 37" tires fit without rubbing. We went out to his car to see what his current suspension set up was. He had a front coil over set up that was not big enough for those tires. We advised him that due to him driving with the 37" tires he has over stress his current suspension parts, the ball joints boots where ripped the and axel boots where leaking grease. We explained that the 37" tire size were too big for the truck and they were not meant to fit his current suspension set up. We recommend to Mr. ******* that he should do a complete suspension lift so the tires would fit properly, he advised us that he did not want to replace anything at this time and wanted us to max out his current coil over and cut his inner wheel well to have the rubbing stop. We advised this would be a labor intense project and we could not promise the rubbing to stop due to the fact we could not completely cut out the portion that was rubbing because it was part of the truck body line and would not be safe. He was adamant and authorized Genesis 1 to cut around the inner fender and max out his coil overs. Upon pick up we informed him that he was still going to experience rubbing and steering issues due to bad ball joints and axels leaking bad and angle thrust stretched and would not recommend driving the truck. He told us he was going to let truck sit and wait until he can afford Camburg arms. He told us he was ok with it paid and left. On 8/16 ****** return to the shop inquiring on a Camburg front upper control arms with camber kits to stop rubbing on tires and wanted us to check on a rear differential leak. We inspected and advised Mr. ******* that it will take a few weeks to special order the upper control camber arms with camber kit and that his rear differential seal was leaking. He authorized us to order parts and to do repairs needed. Once we received the parts, we advised Mr. ******* we recommended axels do to the axels looking worse from his last visit. He denied further repairs. We concluded the job and he picked up his truck. At no point on both jobs did MR. ******* express any concerns, questions or issues while having his truck worked on or at pick up. These repairs where done about a year ago and this is the first time we hear of customer concern of parts being installed wrong? This truck had prior issues and customer was informed.
