We the people paid for the construction of the toll roads only to have handed over to a private company after construction was completed. As if the complicated part of the tolls roads was collecting tolls. In addition, if for some reason their transponder system makes a mistake and logs you as not having a transponder you get charged additional fees for an error they made, and if you take more than a month to notice their mistake, they will not reverse the fees. The fact that the gave our public roads to a private company, without our knowledge and it remains a secret, has convinced me never to vote for any proposition to fund any infrastructure. It's all a scam.Review from David M

No need for me to recap my experience, it's sited below with the monthly charges long after the transponder has been deactivated, lost, stolen or whatever... my story is the same. I also moved out of state just before this which there's no real way to even know you're getting the charges still.Compound that with my recent conversation.... they will not turn off the transponder (i.e. stop charging you) until you are paid up on the charges that you are challenging. (This is from ***** on the customer service line.) So now, while I'm trying to figure all this out, rather than working with me I was told I'll be sent to collections. I even asked, "bottom line, what do I need to pay to get you all to quit harassing me?" To which ***** responded that I don't have to pay it. It was only when pressed he came back with the collections line. (This conversation was held via chat, so they have the full record of it.)Metro ExpressLanes is working actively to scam people. And when they are found out, they threaten (the quote, "I never said you have to pay, we'll just send you to collections") and try to confuse. Keep in mind "you don't have to pay" is also how they get to keep charging you.There HAS to be something illegal in continuing to charge for a service like this when the request to turn off the service has been made. I was also denied the ability to speak with a customer service supervisor or Manager. I was told they'd call within 3 business days. We'll see.Review from yolanda b

This is a Scam for money I've been charged ********************** the toll lanes daily sometimes even more when driving different freeways its all a reach for money this couldn't be legal why charge for different freeways an base it on the time of day, early mornings why charge so much when everyone is driving the freeways to work this is just bad business I've closed my account, changed my credit card, and pack up there responders to take back to the office so many people are saying they returned them and the company saying they never did why to charge them for the lost transponders? just seem like they find ways to charge additional fees. i can sit in traffic instead of paying these fees another money scam by Metro Express lanesReview from Abigail A

TOTAL CRIMINALS. I was in another town and they 'cited my vehicle' for driving in the metro expresslane. I sent a dispute to contest the notice, added an additional letter of explanation as requested, could prove the vehicle was NOT on the freeway, as I was at another location miles away. Instead of any response, they only sent an additonal notice saying they had added a penalty for not paying the first notice. These people are criminals, and this is extortion. The rights of the US people are being taken away one by one. There is no defense against these crinimals as they are always right. There is no justice and I am sick of it. No one should support this company - allow extra time and do not pay or use these lanes, only use the standard freeway lanes which we already pay to maintain. EXTORTION!!!!Review from Carlos C

Patiently waiting for a class action lawsuit!! They charge you A ridiculous amount of money and KEEP charging you!! Ive been double and triple charged even when its weeks without me using the lanes!! Im definitely going to drop off my transponder because this isnt worth what they charge!! We should boycott for a week even 2 days but yeah hurry up Class action ??Review from Michael L

I was one of the first cars using their tolls on the 10 and *********************************************************** charging for the transponders. I stopped using their service in 2015. Since then, they kept billing me $1 per month and now want their transponders back or will charge me $25 per transponder. BUT, you can't even drop them off anywhere, you have to pay to ship them.Their service has cost me $185 over the last 10 years without me actually using it. Their monthly fee is nonsense and privatizing roads is a joke.Review from Ramondan D

They charged me for fees i dont even know and took over 700 dollars from My account. I had purchased a transponder and still was over charged. I stop getting things in the mail but no emails . 3 years later they say I owe **** dollars and put it on my vehicle registration.Review from Kimberly P

I will send a letter to the ******************* and LA County letting them know of deceptive practices. They need a better entity to run the toll lanes. I was sent an image of a license plate that is not mine and 3 toll violations. Of course I am going to call and contest it. The vehicle had no description but they are telling me on the phone that this is my vehicle. 1) It had a generic license plate. I have personalized ********* It happened a month ago. My plates have been on my car for over 1 yr.The customer service rep was very defensive instead of professional. It was as though I was accusing her personally of doing business in a deceptive way instead of the company she works for.They sent me to the *** to prove it wasn't me but I was denied any paperwork that would verify it. *** said I'm not the registered owner of said vehicle and that is private info. 2+ hours there to walk out with no proof at all. *** says don't worry. The violation will keep the registered owner from registering the vehicle in the future and not you. GOOD NEWS but I still have a violation under my name that could go to collections if I am not careful.This is what should've happened:1) "I am sorry that we sent you an image that does not show you driving...this is the description of the vehicle...is that your vehicle?"2) "You are correct, the vehicle is not registered to you, it is registered to a dealership but we have received information that the **** due is yours...maybe you were driving this vehicle at the time. Have you rented any vehicles on the dates of the ***** or could this vehicle have been a trade in? If I were you I would follow up with dealerships or rental car agencies you have used in the last few months. If that does not pan out please call us back."They need to train t their customer svc reps better and create better policies or Metro Express Lanes will receive more like me showing up at council meeting to terminate them and to appoint a better agency.Review from Brandy D

Metro Express is practicing in a way that should be illegal!! I bought a transponder and connected my vehicle to it, I lost my debit card and forgot to update it on the account and ********************************************* removed my vehicle from my account and revoked my account. This caused me to receive fines that are 500% higher than the original amount. But its weird because i bought the transponder and I have an account connected to my vehicle so why didnt they charge me for the rate of users who have an account. I called and they offered me a 25% reduction. What an insult. I will no longer ride in metro ************************** will be looking into taking legal action against these unfair practices that they force onto people. & the worst part is that I was never notified that my car was being removed from my account, I was never notified that I had violations and I had called their customer service and spoke with 4 different people and each one tells me a different balance on my account. I refuse to be victim of Metro Express. The entire system in which they operate needs to be reformed.
