I hired Crawford Roofing to replace my roof in December 2021. I chose a **** color from the brochure for the shingles.A part of my roof is too flat for shingles and required modified roofing instead. They covered this area with a black color, rather than the **** to match the rest of the roof. I complained immediately, while work was still being performed on the rest of the roof. I was told at that time that the shingle color I chose for the roof was not available in modified. They chose black because it's what their supplier had in stock, rather than consulting me to find a color of my choice. They did the same thing with the roof vents, replacing silver colored with black because it's all their supplier had. Via several text messages back and forth, a more suitable color for the modified was found and they said they would replace the modified when the weather got warm again.Now they say I have to pay $1200 to replace the modified. They say it's my responsibility because I don't like the color, which isn't their fault. And it's a special-order item, which costs more.I contend this was an incredibly rushed job. They were trying to squeeze me in between other jobs, so a lot of things were overlooked in their haste. Because of this they were forced to buy whatever their chosen supplier had in stock. So they made decisions for me, to their own benefit. They should have told me, before work started, to choose a color for the modified and had the materials purchased and ready to go. Same with the roof vents. We both found a suitable color for the modified roof in stock at other suppliers. At no time, either via text or with a written estimate, did they tell me it would cost $1200 to replace the modified. They insist they told me verbally, but they did not. I consider this an egregious error on their part and I am withholding final payment until this work is completed the way it should have been from the beginning.Business response

We had discussed before we had bought material on the color because the color that she originally chose was not available and so she needed to change it the color out and then the modify area she did not like the black so we went free of charge to change that out for her we have done everything that we needed to do and we committed and completed everything that we agreed on and her and I have been talking just fine communicating dressed fine she knows where my office is she's been to my house and that is where my office is located and she knows how to contact me and she told me that she was just fine with everything the last time I talked to her and so I'm very concerned and Confused of why she is reporting to the baby when she told me she was very happy with the end of our services she wanted extra vent and I explained to her that we but in five ends and that's what we installed because that's what she had before so when we remove stuff we install the exact same things that are there if she needs to call me she can and I really hope she understands we put her house to code to fit the code requirements as well she did not have code before we did the roof she had holes in her decking prior to that they only had metal covering the holes.Customer response
