I have a Carefree of Colorado awning on my crossroads camper. One of the arms snapped while eating lunch during our last camping trip causing one side of the awning to collapse and completely destroy the entire arm assembly. It is only about a year old. It collapsed under its own weight. Called and used the prompts to reach the warranty department. Return caller stated that I needed to speak to the warranty department. Another voicemail has been left with no response. Searching online through complaints of the company, I saw 3-4 other reviews wirh pictures showing the rail that broke.theirs broke in the exact same spot. Clearly a design flaw. Giving a few more days to correct this clear design flaw and make it right before I escalate with a lawyer. The sheer disregard to respond to my concern is worth spending the money to make a point. Supremely upset. I needed a $50 part for awning end cap that broke. Carefree said part could only be purchased along with replacement motor. Carefree wanted to charge me $350!! Was able to buy the unneeded motor with needed part for ONLY $251 on Amazon. Took the cap off, fixed the awning, now have motor I don't need. The end cap was clearly manufactured separately from the motor, then attached. What a RIPOFF!!Review from Richard H.

Carefree of Colorado does not return phone calls made to the the parts department. Ive been holding on voicemail for 30 minutes on two different occasions over the past five days. The voicemail tells me how important I am as a customer and how valuable my time is and please leave a number and they will call me back. They do not return phone calls. After five days, its safe to say that Carefree Colorado does not return phone calls. If a consumer purchases one of their products they should be prepared for support.Carefree Of Colorado Response

Buyers beware! If you are thinking about ordering a checkered board awning from CareFree of Colorado, please know that you will not receive a full checker board like pictured on their web site, or any ****** images you may find! Instead of admitting they put it together backwards, they will tell you, Thats how we do it! When I sent one of the customer service agents a pic of what I received, he told me on the phone, Oh wow, yea thats not right! But after he talked to his supervisors, he told me that it indeed was sent to me correctly.Carefree Of Colorado Response

I will agree with you, that our website may be confusing. It shows pictures of different styles of awnings with this fabric. But, when placing the order, it shows the choice of white or black for last 12 or so inches that cover the awning when it is closed. If you have a box style awning (which you do) it only comes with white or black on the end. That is how the fabric for this style of awning is made. If you have Vertical Arm style, we make the fabric pattern all the way to the rollbar.
We offered you a full refund or a solid fabric as we cannot make what you are wanting. Did you already let the agent know what you would prefer? I am sorry you were disappointed with your purchase. We strive to do what we can to make it right for our customers.

I had a strong wind break an arm on my awning in October of 2022, we are now in April of 2023. My RV repair guy has been dealing with these people for me, and getting nothing but the run around from them. One person says we don't make that anymore, another says "this is what you need". Each time this happens it takes weeks to find out that they sent the wrong part yet again. You try to call and nobody answers the phone, they want you to leave a message. Well here we are again. I made a special trip to the storage lot to get the rv out, and have it ready for my guy to work on, and yet again, the wrong parts, and not even enough wrong parts. So I have to take the rv back to the storage again. Which means another special trip. The whole time this is going on, I am without my awning again. I have resigned myself to the fact that I will not have an awning for the season. I came to the realization that CAREFREE doesn't mean that you are carefree with your awning, Carefree means that they are carefree because they literally don't care. All you ever get is the wrong stuff, and excuses.Carefree Of Colorado Response

Hello ******,Please have the dealer or shop that is trying to fix your awning call me at extension ****. I believe you called yesterday but you didn't have any information so we could help you when we called you back. He can reach me without having to wait. We do have a huge call capacity coming into the building, but we do have a phone system that allows you to choose a call back and not lose your place in line or leave message. I placed an order for an awning through the Carefree website and it indicated $110 shipping to my address in ******. I emailed the company to confirm the shipping cost because that sounded low. *** responded that it would be $220 to ship to ******. I had her confirm that this was shipping to my shop door and provided the complete shipping address. She replied the next day "yes to your shop door" so I went ahead and placed and paid for the order. A couple of weeks later *** emailed and said the shipping would be $580!! I asked if they would honor the original shipping quote and had no reply. I emailed again asking and no reply. The $580 in shipping ($800 ********) put the awning out of my budget so I asked to cancel the order. I checked the order status online today and it says CANCELLED. I will be interesting to see how long it takes to get my money back. Carefree of Colorado has no integrity, does not honor price quotes and when the conversation is not going the way they want they just stop responding. Buy *******...yea right.Review from Robert D

We purchased parts for an awing for a customer they arrived wrong. ******************** told us they unable to use the manufacturers part numbers to order parts, so after 14 months they agreed to. refund our money. It has been several months and no refund .They also no longer answer our E-mails. I can think of no reason any one would by their products..Review from Gariele + Wolfgang

We purchased and paid duty to a total of almost $500, for a replacement awning for our small travel trailer. We sent a drawing with all possible measurements. Carefree of Colorado was the original supplier to the Trailer Manufacturer. The awning arrived quicker than expected and we were initially very pleased, until we wanted to install it and found the size incorrect. Disappointingly it is narrower , which will not be as nice as the original. However the outward extension of the awning is actually nearly 17 inches to long which makes it impossible to install. After waiting months for a response from Colorado, we wrote again, and got responses that seem to say they think we'll order and pay for another new awning . Unfortunately we did not know that we might have been able to have a new awning made. locally. ****** learned for us. I used to work here years back and when they say made in ******* that's a huge lie it's all from ***** assembled in ********** this company is a joke extremely low wages while the top brass brags how much revenue the company makes do not buy awnings from here they will not hold up long and carefree will not stand behind the product
