Our estimates are always free. You elected to execute the contract portion of your free estimate on July 20th and let the required seventy two hour rescind period expire, at which point we began negotiations with your insurance company, on your behalf and with your blessing. Your original insurance settlement was $18,000. We negotiated an additional $22,000 on the claim for you for a total claim settlement of $40,000. You then attempted to give the contract to another contractor, even though we had already done the negotiating work and we had rearranged our schedule to accommodate your closing. The 10% that you were charged when you decided not to move forward with the project was very clearly laid out in the contract you signed, which you chose to break. You were not forced into anything. Billable hours were spent on your behalf by our sales team and as such that 10% paid for those billable hours. This scenario is exactly why our contract is written the way it is.
