On 9/22/2022, I delivered my 2004 Trail Blazer to McNeal's for a purchase and installation of a new transmission. On 10/27/2022, I returned to Durango to pick up the vehicle and paid McNeal's $5,921.86 for the transmission and new tires. On 9/18/2023 I had routine service to the vehicle at Jack Furrier in Tucson, where I live. They informed me that the the transmission was leaking between transmission and transfer case. I called McNeal's, informed them, and they said to get a transmission place to look at it and then call the information to the manufacturer of the transmission. I got ***** in Tucson ************** to do that, and the manufacturer said it was an installation problem and not a transmission problem, with with which I agree. I called McNeal's, repeated this to them, and suggested they send a check to ***** for $586.00 for repair and save me $200.00 of gas and 26-hourts of travel time. They refused, saying they did not warrant their work beyond 9-months. There is nothing about that in the only document I have from them. I said I would be filing a complaint. I want them to send the cost to ***** or do it for free and pay me for $200.00 of gas to drive back and forth to Durango.Business response

I do not accept his response.
There is no way I am going to contract for $5,000.00 of transmission work on a 2004 Trail Blazer – a four wheel drive, highly complex transmission connected to a transfer case – a vehicle with only 100,000 miles on it and not often used – 500-miles from home, with only a nine month installation warranty. I was never told of the 9-month limit, nor did I see any posted warning sign to that effect.
McNeal’s specializes in transmissions. I note that in their reply they did not say they told me of the warranty. They want to blame ****** for a leak at the joinder of the transmission to the transfer case. That joinder was done by McLean, not ******.
I recognize mistakes can be made, and hold nothing against McNeal’s per se. But I do not believe the burden is on me to spend $200 for gas, and drive 1000 miles for McNeal’s to make repairs. Then can send me a Check for $586.00 for the repairs, made out to ****** ***** **** **** **** ****** ******* ** ***** – an ***** Transmission Total Case station. My address is **** **** **** **** ******* ** *****.
If that is done, I will ask BBB to close the report with complaints to McNeal’s – and I will send notices to the Colorado Attorney General Consumer Complaint and San Juan County Attorney informing them of the honor of McNeal’s.
