Date of transaction is 12/8/23 Total amount of transaction $1520.72 I dropped an engine block and cylinder head for inspection and rebuild. I was given an estimate of around 1400 to 1500 dollars and told the block and head were fine and just needed resurfacing. Turnaround time was quick and I picked the motor up a few days later. Parts are returned in a sealed bag and because of the potential for snow I didn't examine the block before I left. I didn't want to open the sealed bag due to potential of moisture intrusion. Once I got home and unloaded the motor in my garage I then removed the sealed bag only to find cracks in the deck of the engine block. The block should have NEVER been machined. I immediately called the machine shop and asked why I was not notified of the cracks and why they even machined it to begin with. They asked that I bring the motor back to them for further inspection. I loaded it back up and went back to Loveland from Longmont. They inspected the block and acted surprised by the cracks. Jeff stated he thought it would be okay but agreed that they missed the multiple cracks. He did offer to machine another block but cannot find one. My concerns are that they either totally missed the problems, they knew the cracks were there and I wouldn't notice or they just didn't thoroughly inspect it before or after machining. His only offer was to provide me with head studs to which he turned around and charged me for the studs when he stated he would "take care of the studs". I was told the owner was on vacation and they could only charge for the parts until he returned at which point they would issue a refund. I have repeatedly called for an update and am told they don't yet have an answer. I would appreciate some type of resolution and would like to see what they offer in that regard. These are supposed to be specialists and any machine work requires a thorough inspection before any services rendered. This motor was obviously not thoroughly inspected.
