      Riley upgraded my generator a few years back from a 7.5 K to a 10K system and did an excellent job. I specifically asked them to keep the old transfer switch, installed by someone else over 12 years ago, to save some money. Well, the transfer switch failed this past spring by not transferring power back from the utility when the power outage was corrected. That’s not on Riley. That’s on me for being penny wise and pound foolish. I called Riley to come out and look at it. They did within days and the tech was professional and showed me how the switch was failing. I asked if they could send me a quote to either fix what I have or install a new switch. The only issue I had with Riley was I waited a month and had to call them twice to get the quote. They finally gave a price for a new switch and we arranged a date for the install. That went perfectly. Dan ***** ** did the install himself. But if the communication was more prompt and responsive about getting a quote I’d give them 5 stars. I will continue to use them for my generator maintenance agreement.

      Thinking about using Riley Electric for your home generator service? Look elsewhere! For the past ten years, I've been a customer of Riley's for annual generator service, and while I've always been consistently underwhelmed, I never felt the need to complain until now. Our experiences over the last few years have declined in quality, demonstrating a lack of attention to detail, such as missed battery replacements and messy workmanship with an oily mess left on and around the generator after they completed their work. Communication with Riley has been a constant hurdle. Reaching them typically requires multiple calls and emails, and their websites "contact us" feature was even nonfunctional for a while. During our most recent appointment, scheduling difficulties persisted. Once there, the technicians displayed a complete lack of professionalism, vaping throughout the service and spilling a large quantity of oil, at least 4 feet square, on our new driveway. Shockingly, they left without even attempting to clean it, forcing us to spend hours cleaning their mess. Their diagnostic skills were equally concerning. Initially, we were told our ten-year-old generator needed a specific $800 part replaced, and the technician even dismissed the entire unit, saying, 'It's 10 years old, junk it.' After demanding they clean the spill and send a qualified technician, the new technician contradicted the first diagnosis, further recommending a full system replacement or an even more expensive part." Outraged by Riley's misleading diagnoses, unprofessionalism, and pressure to replace the entire system, we sought a second opinion. In contrast, the second company identified the real issue and a repaired if for a fraction of the cost Riley quoted. Stay away from Riley Electric! Their service is unprofessional, their diagnoses are questionable, and their communication is a constant hassel. Find a company that respects your time, money, and property.

      Mr. Sigler, First, I want to express my deepest apology for this totally unacceptable experience with our company. I started this company in 1990 and have existed for 34+ years because of our commitment to customer response and top-level service. What you experienced is not who we are , and certainly not typical. I want to assure you and all future customers that the issues you outlined in your review have been dealt with. While we have had some issues with staffing this is no excuse. At the very least our Service Manager should have responded immediately when he was informed of the oil spill to reassure you the customer and to determine what may be needed to clean the oil spill and restore the driveway (For the record, we did send someone out who spent a considerable amount of time cleaning the spill) and to determine the problem with the generator. The individuals involved with the oil spill and vaping have been dealt with. Vaping and smoking on customer premises are strictly prohibited. Finally, communication with the customer is of utmost importance. Measures in the office have been taken to ensure calls are answered and any messages left are promptly returned. I appreciate your review and wish you the best going forward.
