Short version The complete story has been uploaded. * Took my GrandBaby to Companions on 11/1/2023 for digestion issues. * They came into the examination room and seemed to have no real concern about the issue at hand. * They then offered a costly examination package which had to be paid immediately with no payment plans offered. * We could only afford to take a lesser exam that included a blood test. * There was no prescriptions or medication given for treatment instead we were told to keep coming back to have her weighed. * Though she regained her appetite her weight never returned and eventually I had to end up rushing her to another veterinarian on the morning of 1/15/2024 where she eventually passed on. * Despite having a charge for a blood test. I found it had been omitted online and receipt but the charge on my statement would give them away. * Either way, they took our money with full knowledge that they could not or would not be able to help. Perhaps, if they had not squandered our resources (both time and money) we would have been able to find another clinic with the know how and willingness to save her life.Initial Complaint

We picked our dog up from two weeks of boarding (June 21 - July 7th, 2022) with Companion Animal Hospital in ******* ** and she looked thin and almost skeletal in spots. We discovered that she had lost 10-13% of her body weight (depending on whose scales that you use; they left her harness on while weighing her) and was definitely a couple of points lower in her body composition score with each rib and hip bones suddenly very prominent. We first brought this to their attention via a phone call. Their only statement was that they checked with their kennel staff and she was fed according to our instructions. We could bring her in for a "more accurate weight" if we wished. When I brought her in for that weight to be recorded (as well as pick up items they forgot to return to us), I expressed my concerns that no one contacted us with regards to her sudden, large weight loss. I was informed of the following: -Reiterated that their staff followed our feeding instructions. -Suggested that perhaps our dog is less active at home? (She's not, she does regular 5 mile walks and tennis ball runs). -Staff had no response as to why would we would not have been contacted with regards to a loss in weight or body condition. They were asked this twice. Did admit that weekly weight checks would be a good idea moving forward. -Front staff stated that the kennel staff would only check animals health on the basis of if they ate or not. -Front staff did confirm that at least 10% loss of weight in two weeks was alarming. -Suggested our dog weighed that weight 3-4 years prior so perhaps it was normal. -We were informed that if we had concerns, we could arrange for an exam. Staff stated that this exam would be entirely at our cost. I pointed out that the reason for this exam was due to her time in their care. Staff reiterated that all fees would be our responsibility. We have reached out requesting resolution a couple of times regarding this matter, but no contact has been made.
