Don't bring a date here unless you want her grabbed by the host. Upon entering the host grabbed hugged and held my date then shook my hand very forcefully while he chatted her up. When I asked him not to hug my girlfriend, privately at the table, he responded with a loud and incredulous "What?" Which I ignored. He then shook my hand even more forcefully pulling me in and glaring at me on the way out. He seemed drunk. All in all a very unpleasant and vulgar dining experience.

Hi, this is obviously a fabrication of an alleged action that he claimed happened here. No one here has any knowledge of this guest or any incident from a member of our staff towards this guest. This is a professional organization in operation for over 24 years and incidents like he is alleging do not happen here. Everyone is treated the same. There is always at least 2 hosts and 2 managers at the hoststand on any given night. Really not quite sure why this guest wouldnt just get in touch with the restaurant if there was an issue with service?

On Dec 4th, 2021, we arrived at Max’s Oyster Bar for a 12:30 lunch* reservation. We had been Max’s several times before for lunch and liked it so much we wanted to try brunch vs. lunch or dinner for an upcoming birthday celebration. The cocktails were always mixed to perfection, balanced and a match for the meal. Fish was fresh and plate pristine. That feeling vanished that day quickly. This reservation was a horror. Restaurant was quite empty yet the hostess led us to a sectioned off space along the high-traffic corridor. Two ladies were already squeezed into the first booth and looked as little pleased as we did at the prospect of sitting atop each other with no privacy. Asked for a small table on the open landing. Begrudgingly seated. Waiter asked me “Are you taking your Mommy for a treat?” while she was in the bathroom and I obviously a grown woman, albeit it with a withered crippled arm. I ordered scallops (previously enjoyed). Gnocchi were missing. Waiter came back with a small dish and what looked like a few shirvels of maggots. Scallops were so over salted they were inedible and sent back. Seafood pasta replacement was oily and barely edible but I was afraid to complain further. The cocktails were so strong, I was weaving when we left and that had NEVER been the case before. My 80+ year old mother ordered a haddock & brussel sprouts entree she had on a prior visit. Her wine was warm, the plate looked messy, brussel sprouts undercooked, but she finished it. I was ill the rest of the afternoon at home and by evening, Mom fell violently sick (I described it to ****** later as “D-Day” awful) around 1600h. The stench of foul fish she eliminated was ghastly, lasted all night and into an unwell day. A non-confrontational email to ****** had no reply. Cancelled Mom's birthday reservation later in person, without details; hostess was nasty about it. We haven’t been back since. Due to other circumstances, I decided this report needed to be filed. Sincerely ***
