On August 18, 2021 we paid a 50% down payment to Gotcha Covered of $3339.62 towards an order of window treatments. The total of the sale was 6679.25. We were given an estimated delivery time of 10-12 weeks. On Dec. 10, 2021 I called the store and was told that the treatments would be in at the end of December. I have since come to find out that the owners, Glenn and Sharon W, kept my deposit and never ordered the blinds. I spoke with my sales person who told me this. The store is now closed and the franchise has been terminated by the Gotcha Covered corporate office. We are not the only ones who have been wronged by this couple and they don't seem to anywhere to be found.Initial Complaint

We contracted with Gotcha Covered in Apollo Beach, FL to purchase and install plantation shutters. We signed a contract and put down a deposit in November, 2021. We have called them several times and got no answer. The work was supposed to completed this month. Their voicemail now says the mail box is full. The owners are Sharon and Glenn W. of Sarasota, FL. Calls to their phones have gone unreturned and their voicemail boxes are full. We have reports from other customers who have said the store is closed and appears to have been abandoned in December. We contacted the corporate office who are aware of the situation but other than removing them as franchise owners, there is not a lot they can do to recover our deposit. I have contacted Hillsborough County Sheriff's office to report a fraud claim and will be meeting with them next week.Initial Complaint

We ordered blinds on 7/25/2021 from Gotcha Covered LLC Southshore in Apollo Beach FL. We were asked to leave a deposit of 50% of the total project so we left a deposit of $1,530. We were told with the supply chain issues it would be awhile before the shutters were delivered and installed. I left messages that were never returned and I called and the phone rang and no one ever answered. The shutters have never been delivered or installed and they cashed our check on 7/30/2021. I found out by reading about the scams by gotcha covered LLC Southshore on the Apollo Beach next door app. So many people are out of money by this business's owner. I do have the owners names and cell phone numbers. I have also filed a report with the Hillsborough county Florida sheriff and emailed a consumer reporter with a local TV station in Tampa. Please reply with any help or assistance you can offer.Business response

Consumer Response /* (2000, 19, 2022/02/23) */ Sorry for the delay in responding. I also filed a complaint with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. They had sent Glenn & Sharon W 2 letters concerning my complaint. After the second letter, they called my investigator, Calvin M, at the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. On 1/27/2022, I received a call from Mr. M that Mr. & Mrs. W wanted my address to send me a refund. My conditions was the funds needed to be in the form of a cashier's check and I asked it be sent certified mail. The check arrived on 1/28/2022 and I cashed it on 2/2/2022. I have been fully reimbursed. Mr and Mrs. W have only reimbursed me and no one else; I have no clue why no one else has been reimbursed. There are still people that are out a combined amount of over $200,000. The Gotcha Covered at 6116 N HWY 41 Apollo Beach/South Shore is plagued with problems. In MARCH of 2021 We ordered a set of blinds for the front 2 windows and a set of 4 for our back patio. We figured there would be delays due to global shipping issues and understood patience was needed. HOWEVER, we're fast approaching a year and we are STILL waiting for resolution of our issues: 1. We received 3 (not 4) blinds. They said it would be another 6-8 weeks for the new blinds... That was in November. 2. They were not properly measured/cut so they had to come back out and "custom cut them to fit... Had to drill MORE holes are the old ones didn't align. 3. The were different styles and shades of white. 4. We have HOUNDED them for updates but they will not answer calls and have been closed since Christmas break. 4.b. All the employees have quit! The owners have been woefully unresponsive!
