We took our puppy as it was needing an operation to remove a ball that he had swallowed. After waiting a while, I was presented with a really vague estimate (there was $2,000 difference in the high and low figure). One of the items on the list was an optional gastropexy procedure. The staff member explained what it was, and as it was optional, expensive and not needed from the description she had given me, I told her I did not want it doing. I did not want to put our puppy through anymore pain than was necessary. She told me to go ahead and sign the estimate anyway. When we collected our puppy the next day, we were told that how to care for the puppy and the gastropexy procedure was mentioned. I was shocked and explained that we didn't want it doing. The staff member told me to reach out to their office and I did as soon as I arrived home and explained what had happened. The staff member who presented me with the estimate was not at work that day and I was told that someone would be in touch. I was hoping that the office would contact her while the situation was still fresh in her mind. But no, it was a week later before I heard anything and of course, the staff member denied all knowledge of me refusing this. I am currently seeking legal advice for vet malpractice. Before taking your beloved pet here, read the reviews on Better Business Bureau. This place needs to be closed down

Oreo was lethargic on July 10th. We went to ******* ****** ******* ****** who referred us to Clearwater Animal Referral and Emergency. They informed us that C.A.R.E. would act in our best interests, they wouldn’t be out for money. Because of Covid-19, we had to wait in the parking lot. We also had to have payment secured before they saw Oreo. Oreo stayed from 7-10/13. They confirmed what Dunedin Animal found was a blocked urethra. The staff started him on IV fluid therapy as well as other medications and catheterized him for 48 hours. They called on7-12, they told my family he was on antibiotics. We didn’t ask what kind or how much because we trusted them to properly care for Oreo. A Pet's Place told us he was never given antibiotics by CARE. We didn’t realize the amount of sedatives they were giving him like benzodiazepines-otherwise known as Xanax, Valium, Ativan. Known sedatives they claim did not suppress his appetite, despite being medications that do the exact opposite. We received updates on Oreo’s status along with emails/pictures. We asked questions. 7-13, they called 8 am and told me I could pick Oreo up. At 11am they called and said he needed to be re-catheterized for two more days. This would’ve cost $1,500 on top of the $4,700 they had charged. They emphatically told me I had $1,200 left to spend in my credit line. I love my cat and didn't want him be catheterized again. I felt he was going to die in their care. I took him to A Pet’s Place at 1:30 pm. They easily identified crystals in his urethra. Crystals that C.A.R.E. never told us about during the multiple phone calls. Oreo stayed at A Pet’s Place less than 24 hours when they called saying we could pick him up. A Pet’s place removed the IV, the cone, didn’t leave the catheter in and replaced sedatives with antibiotics. On 7-22 A Pet's Place received a culture showing he needed antibiotics due to an infection called Enterobacter Aerogenes. An infection that comes from using catheters.

Its awful that they don't let you inside!! Who knows who's really looking at your pet,I've never met the Dr w that was reccomended to me,only on phone.WHAT ARE YOU HIDING THAT YOU WON'T SIT DOWN IN ROOM WITH YOU???I've even asked to have dr w***** step outside for moment so I can meet her in person to go over care, and she refused.!! I've also had my dog put to sleep there, wanted $$$$$$ to do tests on my 18 yr old sweety pie, then rushed me into euthinasia then charged me alot to do that. Seems very cold and unproffessional. Covid issues? Oh please, noone wears masks anymore, numbers are at lowest and what's wrong with asking to mask up in clinic? Again it makes me NOT TRUST THEM when you can't even meet the vet supposidly treating your precious babies? Would you hand off your actual baby to strangers? NO.
SO stop with exuses and sit down with your patients in room and not talk over phone. Also stop raking people over coals with prices!!

If you are considering this vet for an emergency or for their internal medicine doctor I highly recommend seeking elsewhere. My dog died because of their negligence. I have even sent a letter to Kris - the owner and also works in the office who has never even responded to me. I have never received a call from the internal doctor after *****'s passing. They simply don't care about your pet and it's all about the money. Not to mention I have probably spent north of $10,000 in just a few month period resulting in a dead pet. I even brought this to another vet owner and I was told if my dogs calcium level was 1 point higher this case could be escalated to the Florida board to be investigated and reviewed licenses.

If anyone is interested in reading my story I have documented everything and all the proof is there in the photos.

Long story short I was concerned of my Yorkshire Terriers health and I brought him to a neurologist thinking there was something going on there. The neurologist was more concerned with his health and recommended I see an internist. So we take the steps to see the internist and we headed in the right direction in the beginning but not for long. I would bring ***** back and forth to the vet almost on weekly basis at times for blood work and check ups and fluids. ***** seemed to be getting worse and when I would bring him in the vet including Dr Martin continued to tell me ***** was a senior dog and that he was senile - which was not the case it was because his levels were off and he was neglected from the veterinarian. He then gets worse and I called the vet to tell them something was wrong and they said made an appointment a day or two later. When I arrived to the vet I asked for hospitalization and fluids (the vet always recommended fluids when ***** wasn't doing well based on his medical condition). The vet denied *****'s hospitalization because they were too busy and would not give him fluids because they were again too busy and they continued
