We ordered and signed the job order on 10/28/2021. My neighbor did as well and this was to install tile in our porch and sidewalk areas. I paid $300 for materials. Materials were received by 4 star in November and they advised my neighbor, they would complete the job by Thanksgiving. It wasn't, then it was by Christmas, it wasn't then it was by the New Year, it wasn't. I would call and leave messages for them to call me and they didn't. they would correspond with my neighbor. Job started Jan 9th. My neighbors side is done. Mine is not- the grout is not completed and there are areas missing tile. I have called several times to see when they will complete the job, they have not returned my call. I have sent text messages - I got excuses then nothing more. I have not paid the balance. I would like to job completed by the end of this week. Horrible communication and unacceptable customer (lack thereof) service!

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2022/02/22) */ Contact Name and Title: Cathy C***** - manager Contact Phone: 3216345419 Contact Email: fourstarflooring@cfl.rr.com We contracted to install outside tile for Ms ******* as she stated. We did have to wait for product to come in and we did finish her neighbor's area already (the neighbor signed contract before she did ). We apologize for the delay but the weather had much to do with delays that occurred. We cannot install tile outside with inclement weather, freezing temperatures or grout with the forecast of rain. Unfortunately, on the days when the weather looked to cooperate, John was scheduled on another job. John has been in touch with Ms ******* many times through texts, most recently as yesterday - the smiley emoji sent nor the verbage of the texts gave him no indication of her concerns. We also apologize for not responding sooner to the complaint as we were out of town from 2/8-2/14 and the original email apparently got "buried" in the many spam ones received. John has it scheduled to go there tomorrow (the weather should definitely permit this) and finish.

Master bathroom Renovation started on 07 September 21 and was to be completed in 10-14 days. Most of the work was completed on 25 September 21 and was to be finished after sink countertops and shower glass door was installed. Countertops were installed on 01 October 21. Shower door installation was delayed until 23 November 21 due to glass people unable to fit us in their schedule for 3 weeks plus glass had to be measured and cut. Also step into the shower was unlevel and Four Star Flooring had to come back out to level it. Once leveled glass was installed on 23 November 21. We informed Four Star Flooring that they need the come out and complete the job after shower door installation was installed and cured. Mr C***** will not return our calls nor respond to our texts. We have even called his wife at the shop and she said that he will calls us and still no response. Four Star Flooring still need to complete the following items: paint the walls with second coat, fix grout work in and around the shower, install faucets and plumbing, install handles and shelf's In cabinets, fix gaps between cabinet, floor and wall, finish baseboard, install handicap rail in shower, install shower drain in floor, finish tile work in and around shower entrance, install wall outlet covers, repair damage to tall linen cabinet and install missing tile in the front bathroom. Mr C***** has been paid $10,791 already with a balance due of $1000 upon completion of his work. Four Star Flooring has a few bad google reviews and he spoke with him and his wife and both explained that they were from disgruntle customers. Mr C***** was informed before work started that this bathroom had to be completed as soon as possible due to my medical disabilities and upcoming surgery. Due to his lack of effective communication and failure to complete in a timely manner has resulted in this complaint.

      Business response

      03/15/2022

Business Response /* (1000, 15, 2022/01/12) */ We sincerely regret the length of time it has taken to complete the ******'s bath remodel. We were put on hold several times while they had other portions of the job done. Unfortunately, our schedule did not allow for us to get there immediately following the other contractor's finishing up. John did go over on a Sunday to take care of the leveling issue of the sill and we planned on finishing up all aspects as soon as they could clear their schedules - Justin and John had to coordinate to go together. We also had a delay due to positive covid outbreak. We needed to order a few parts that we were waiting on - 1 item is due in tomorrow - 1/13/21. At that time, we are scheduled to return and complete the job fully. Circumstances, timing and supply shortages have thrown our schedules off more now than in any timeframe. Again, we truly want the ******'s to be completed and enjoy their bath remodel. Consumer Response /* (3000, 17, 2022/01/17) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) John was scheduled to come out on 27 December 2021 but stated he had been exposed to Covid-19. John and son finally came out on 08 January 2022 and completed some of the work, but both sinks were left leaking and a cabinet drawer fail apart. The were supposedly to returned on 12 January but stated that they were waiting for a part. He was scheduled to return today, 17 January, but informed us his son, Justin, had injured his hand and they could not come out. We are still waiting for them to finish this project. We have not been giving an estimated finish date the following items still need to be finished: (1) sink leak, (2) cabinet drawer fixed and secure bracket rail into the wall, (3) paint bathroom with second coat, (4) tighten light fixture above sink, (5) install wood along bottom of cabinets, (6) install wood insert between cabinet and wall, (7) shower shelf needs grout, (8) repair 4 nicks/damage to tall cabinet and install shelves, and (9) install missing tile in the front bathroom. Business Response /* (4000, 19, 2022/01/19) */ John and Justin had all intentions of going back to the ******'s on 12/27 - unfortunately Justin tested positive and John quarantined out of precaution - especially knowing Mr ****** was scheduled for surgery (which was also delayed because the Dr tested positive). When they left on the 8th, there was no indication of a leak - they had let the water run for quite some time to ensure no issues. They will take a look when they come back obviously. The parts we were waiting on were delayed - some had arrived but not the shelf brackets. (These did arrive on the 14th and John try to schedule to return on the 15th and was advised that Mrs ****** wanted to go away for the weekend and get away from the stress of the upcoming surgery (as stated in a text message from her). Unfortunately, Justin did send a framing nail through 3 of his fingers which caused a necessary trip to the doctor on Monday for xrays and such. John informed Mrs ******, who expressed her concern (which we were very grateful for, as we didn't know the extent of the damage). Justin is trying to flex his fingers so he can do what needs to be done properly and safely. We expect to be reaching out to the ******'s within the next day or so. Thankfully, no bones, nerves or tendons were damaged. We truly appreciate their concern and patience. We all want the same outcome. Consumer Response /* (4200, 21, 2022/01/27) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Four Star Flooring haven't been back since 08 January 2022. Last we heard was Justin had an accident was I guess unable to work. We have attempted to contact John several times but no response until yesterday, 26 January 2022, and today. He was in the neighborhood working on other house and my wife was able to talk to him in person. She told him that we were available for them to come back out between 01-06 February 2022. He has agreed to come out on 05 February 2022 to finish this project. Yes we were responsible for him not having capability of coming out on 22 January 2022 as had plans to go out of town to decompress as my surgery was delayed due to 1 of the doctors had contracted Covid. Plus I had some unusual blood results and they need for me to retake. My next doctors appointment is on 31 January 2022 for test results and hopefully schedule my hip replacement surgery. Consumer Response /* (4200, 26, 2022/02/08) */ From:*********************************** Date: February 8, 2022 at 3:02:18 PM EST To: ********************* Subject: Four Star Flooring Four Star Flooring has not completed nor finished this project. After several attempts to contact John my wife was able to catch him working on another job in the neighborhood. He promised her that him and son would be out on 05 February 2022 to finish the incomplete 6 items that we told him about. On 04 February 2022 I text John to see when he was coming out the next day. I got no response so I called him and he stated that most of the work was his son's responsibility and his son was extremely busy. When asked if he would be available on 12 February 2022 he stated that he would call one of us to confirm. Since we haven't heard anything from him my wife texted his wife to see when he would be coming this weekend and she responded "On A cruz ". So we feel he's just blowing us off once more. He has time to take on other peoples jobs and attempts to put us on the back burner and only attempts to talk to us when it convenient to tell us more empty promises. Business Response /* (4000, 33, 2022/02/28) */ John brought the remaining materials to the ******'s home on Saturday, per the agreement between him and Mrs. ******. Both parties agreed it would be better if they got someone else to complete the minor issues that needed taken care of and the balance owed should more than sufficient to do so. Sundays seemed to be the day with the most availability for Mrs ****** and unfortunately that was a difficult time for John and Justin to arrange. In response to Mr ******'s comment that I texted his wife with a "on a cruz" on Feb 12th - that is totally inaccurate. We did go on a cruise from the 8th to the 12th but I did not text anyone work related as it is too costly (besides the fact that I do not just send out such a short response nor spell cruise in that way - so I am totally baffled by his assertion. In regards to keeping them informed of the glass fitters and the countertop company - that was not part of our estimate with them. They hired and paid for those companies themselves. We wish Mr and Mrs ****** the best in the future and prayers for the surgeon's steady hands and a quick full recovery. Consumer Response /* (4200, 35, 2022/03/01) */ 18 February 2022 @7:22pm I text John of Four Star Flooring: Are you coming out tomorrow or anytime this weekend to complete this project or have you just written us off? This is a very frustrating nightmare to deal with you with no return phone calls or texts or not showing up as promised. Your reviews are a true reflection of your business. Be a man and complete this now and not drag us out any longer. If you don't want to complete this project please let us know and bring any items/parts that are needed to complete this. Also provide us with an invoice that shows we are paid IN FULL and we will get someone else that is reliable to complete this project in a timely manner. This has not been a pleasant experience. My wife spoke with John, Four Star Flooring, on 21 February 2022 @9:33am. We asked him to bring items/materials that we had previously paid for and leave a receipt stating that we were paid in full. He is to drop off items at our house on Friday 25 February 2022. We agreed that we would get someone else to complete this project. He was upset that we continually post reviews on websites and with the better business bureau regarding his lack of professionalism, lack of responding to texts or phone calls, not coming out when he said he would and not completing job in a timely matter. 25 February 2022 John brought over most of the parts that we need to hire another contractor to finish this project. He also gave us an invoice showing we have a ZERO balance with Four Star Flooring. I feel that this complaint be made available for other customers to see how we were treated and how Four Star Flooring treats them with lack of prompt calls/tests and how he chose to not complete this project but get 90% of agreed upon price. I want this complaint be available so others know that his A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau is not a true reflect of this company and the reviews on his website are a true reflection of how he does business. He over schedules projects and will delay his completion time by taken on other jobs. His lack of prompt return calls/tests and common courtesy is terrible. One good thing is he does outstanding work but getting him to finish is a never ending story. The only way we are at this stage is our constant complaining to BBB. writing reviews on his website and constantly calling/texting his cell phone and his wife, Cathy, at their shop in Cocoa. This project started on 07 September 2021 and we came to an agreement on 25 February 2022 with Four Star Flooring with him giving us the parts/items we paid for and giving us a ZERO balance invoice. Plus we will have to hire another contractor to finish this project he never finished.
