On July 30, 2022, F&H Contractors ran underground conduit through my sewer line. They just showed up and did the work without discussing with me what exactly where they were going to run the conduit. Locates were done. It cost me $3800 to get this fixed and they said they were not going to pay.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 17, 2022/11/29) */ ***Document Attached*** We received this claim on 8/24/22 and after an investigation was completed, a letter of denial was sent out on 9/6/22 explaining the reason for the denial. We requested that the private utilities be located and marked by the homeowner (see attached) and it was not located by the homeowner. Florida statute .556, the responsibility to locate and the liability is well defined. If this sewer would have been marked, F&H would have spot dug the utility and verified its location. Consumer Response /* (3000, 19, 2022/11/30) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) A flyer was put on the door the day before they damaged the sewer line. Again no verbal communication from this company prior to the work. They just came out and started to work with out evening talking to me about utilities or anything. Not even to say hey were here and we are working in the front yard. If they did i would have told them where the sewer line was located. Why should i have to pay for this? Putting a flyer on the door and not even talking to me prior to work starting does not exclude them from liability. There has to be 2 sides on the same page prior to work starting. I was told by the foreman working that they were going to take care of this but i guess when it got to the higher ups they said no.
