Went to the shop because I had scraped my swaybar. I have been working alot and have not had the time to get underneath myself besides to look at what scraped which was the sway bar. I told them I scraped my swaybar multiple times and that there was a clunking when I turned at low speeds from the front end. They convinced me it wasn't the swaybar and that it was the driveshaft. I asked multiple times are you sure it's the driveshaft? Even went on a ride along with one of the "technicians" asked multiple times yet again, are you sure it's the driveshaft? Yes, definitely the driveshaft. Since they convinced me it was the driveshaft making the noise that's kind of something you need to replace immediately. So I went out and bought an OEM driveshaft from infiniti which was very expensive and set a date for them to replace it. Once it was replaced I got back in my car and drove it 100 yards and immediately knew they did not fix the problem I had gone there to have fixed. Brought it back, they put it on the lift and tightened one of the sway bar bolts that was loose. I wasn't going to say anything, but I talked to a few of my friends that work in a collision center back home, they said they would have been furious that they misdiagnosed a simple issue that was easily fixed. If that had happened to them they would have been in serious trouble and would have had to refund labor costs. So the next day I explained the situation calmly to im assuming a manager named Max. He basically said oh well sucks to suck. I would have waited to do the work myself if I didn't think that it needed immediate replacement, the driveshaft definitely has more life in it and did not need immediate replacement. It's sad that I'm not even a tech and I can diagnose a car better than their trained technicians. My desired outcome is for refund of labor costs, as I have to eat the cost of the driveshaft that was not needed for immediate replacement.Since it's a wearing product I can't return it either.
