Hello, Bought a boat in May of 2021 from Pirates Cove. Boat was delivered as prearranged in Nov. 22021. At that time, noticed that a pedestal support for a table was not installed or otherwise provided on boat. Also, Pirates Cove marina owner agreed to repair fiberglass damage to hull l while boat was stored at Pirates Cove. Estimate of repair was $1,160.00. Have contacted owner several times to resolve the issues however, have not been contacted by him or anyone else . How do I get pirates Cove marina to send me the table pedestal and money for repair of fiberglass damage? Thank you in advance for all your help. ******* ****** ********************* N. Business response

      06/08/2022

Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2022/03/15) */ This response was taken verbally by the BBB We do not drive customers boats so we could not have scratched it. Consumer Response /* (3000, 9, 2022/03/17) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Bought the boat for $69,000 plus taxes and fees in May 2021. Scheduled to have it delivered in November 2021. Boat was in possession of Pirates Cove Marina at their facilty in Dunedin FL. In October made three different trips to PIrates Cove to drive the boat and check out to see if all accessories were present. At time of purchase several guages were missing and not installed per the sales contract. The Tachmometer was working the first visit. Next visit tachometer was not working. Speedometer was missing from dashboard. So, Speedometer was missing, lights in cabin were missing, pedestal base for table was missing. The boat is equipped with an hour meter that registers the hours the engine is running. The boat had at least 6 hours of engine time unaccounted for by myself. I assumed that the extra hours were for water tests at Pirates Cove. Or joy rides by the marina staff. PIRATES COVE MARINA WAS DRIVING MY BOAT. For each visit I did notice that there were 2 or so hours more on the engine than when I last used the boat. Prior to using the boat on the second visit I noticed gelcoat damage which I pointed out to one of the Pirates Cove mechanics. Last visit to the boat pointed out the deep gouges and scratches to the fork lift operator that were made to the gelcoat and not present when last I used the boat. Boat was to be repaired before delivery to Salty Sams Marina In Ft. Myers Beach. Boat was delivered without damage to gelcoat repaired. Delivery driver said Pirates Cove could not get anyone to repair gelcoat and that Pirates Cove would pay for repairs. Well, contacted Pirates Cove several timess after giving them the repair quote of $1,160.00. Had not heard from Pirates Cove at all. Also missing is the mounting plate for the table. Plate was present when boat was on display at the marina showroom. To tell the truth, I was so glad to get the boat out of the clutches of Pirates Cove, everytime I went there the boat had additional gelcoat damage. When the speedometer was finally installed I stated that it did not work. Pirates told me that it was clogged up and I had to use a paper clip to clear the pitot tube water inlet. Boat was being used to determine tachometer and speedometer were working correctly by Pirates Cove marina staff. Pirates Cove had to replace the engine originally on the boat because it was incompatable with the analog guages installed in the dashboard on the boat. The new engine has a reverse pitch propeller that was put on the shaft without the prop being properly torqued down. I've owned four boats. Was a member of the united states power squadrons and held the rank of lietuant with a advanced pilot rating. Taught a safe boating course for four years. Own a 2004 campion and in all those years only had 4 scratchs in the gelcoat mostly from marina personal. If I had to guess, the boat was used after hours by someone at Pirates Cove. Keys to operate the boat were in it. Probably taken to a bar or restaurant on the water and docked at a public pier. Those piers are notorious for having nails stickng out from their pilings. Bottom line, I want Pirates Cove Marina to honor their promise to pay $1,160.00 for gelcoat repairs and send me the mounting plate for the table. Damage to the gelcoat was made prior to my accepting delivery of the boat, while it was being handled by Pirates Cove Marina.
