I contracted for demolition of an existing deck and installation of a new one. My first payment was for 20K. Initially, the placement of the dumpster for debris caused the breaking of two concrete slabs on my driveway. I was assured this would be taken off my final bill. Demolition proceeded with only minor damage to the house. Two weeks passed and support installation began, which initially went well. The posts were installed and passed inspection. No building permit had been submitted, so work could not proceed. The engineer hired by ****** was incapable of submitting the schematics to the County, so I had to pull an owner/builder permit. The original crew disappeared and work was performed by two inept individuals who couldn't keep the supports level, properly connected to hangers or properly fastened. ****** himself came and corrected the multiple errors and asked for an additional $900. He had me order and pay for all the decking and railing materials. At this point, he stopped showing up. I contacted the railing supplier and found that nothing he had ordered was suitable for our deck, Working with them at a cost of 10K, properly designed decking was purchased. After 6 weeks of phone calls and promises of work continuation with no result, I fired Gator and hired a contractor who finished the project in one week at a very reasonable cost. The sheer frustration of dealing with Gator as well as paying for work not performed and materials unsuitable for use was immense.
