    Pattern of Complaint:

    BBB files contain a pattern of complaints from consumers which allege billing issues.  Specifically, consumers report unknowingly being charged a monthly subscription fee after using the website during the trial period. In addition, several consumers report being charged this monthly subscription fee prior to the end of the 3-day trial period.

    On April 9, 2024, BBB sent correspondence to EpicVin requesting their voluntary cooperation in providing steps it will implement to eliminate the pattern of customer complaints.

    On April 16, 2024, EpicVin responded to the BBB with the following: "We appreciate your recent communication regarding the pattern of complaints filed against EpicVIN, specifically related to billing issues. As a company committed to transparency and customer satisfaction, we want to assure you that we have taken proactive steps to address these concerns and ensure clarity regarding our subscription terms. This is what we have done to make the subscription terms as transparent as possible: Additional Terms in Order Summary:

    We have added detailed terms related to the subscription to the order summary section on our website. A screenshot of the updated order summary is attached for your reference.

    Prominent Display of Subscription Terms: Previously, the subscription terms were located at the bottom of the page, making them less visible to users. We have now placed the terms prominently below the payment button on our website, ensuring that users have easy access to this information before completing their purchase. Attached are screenshots comparing the previous and current versions of the page for your review.

    In addition to displaying the terms on our website, we send order confirmation emails to customers for all transactions conducted with us. These emails contain detailed information about the subscription, including the trial period duration, conversion to a monthly subscription, and cancellation instructions.

    We believe that these measures have significantly improved the clarity and transparency of our subscription model, addressing the concerns raised by customers and BBB. We remain committed to providing a positive experience for our customers and ensuring that they are fully informed about our services and terms."

    On August 18, 2024, BBB reviewed the latest complaints on file and  determined the pattern continues. BBB will continue to monitor and update the company's report as needed.

After logging into the website again, I see it activated a subscription without my approval. The initial $1.00 I was shown had no mention of any subscription being activated at all.

      On 04/07 I was looking to check my cars vin number and I found this website ****************************** I ended up buying the file that I needed for 1$ which was actually a trial, followed by a automatically monthly subscription charged from the same credit card that I used for the first transaction When I purchased the 1$ trial I didnt see anything about the actual payment that it had to come after. They had hidden information and uncleared. They are not transparent about they sale I tried to contact them but they said a refund is not possible I find this a scam I saw a lot of customers complaing about the same problem

      Purchased what I thought was a $1 report for my car VIN. To my surprise I was charged $99 a few days later and found out it was a subscription service. They purposefully make this not clear on the order page by placing the subscription fee in the fine print below then refuse to refund you. Someone needs to shut them down.

      Initially I paid for what I thought was a $1 vin check which I thought was completely fair, then 3 days later I get charged $100 which puts my account in negative. I tried to talk it out with my bank and they declined any help pretty quick so I got in contact with the manager of epic vin, Lily who stopped responding after one email and shut me down real fast declining any further action other than cancelling my subscription and giving me $100 in store credit which Im definitely not going to use. Now, if they made it a little more obvious what they were going to do, then Id end up feeling stupid and accepting my loss,, but I noticed this company is infamous for pulling this scheme and have a horrible reputation of scamming customers. I completely understand terms and conditions exist, and I learned a ****** that I now need to read everything carefully, but this company knows exactly what kind of business theyre running and its not right at all. They left my account negative and refused to help, so here I am hoping you can take further action with this situation. Thank you so much for your time and I hope we can work this out. - **** ******

      Is was looking to buy a used car and looked up free *** check on ******. One of the first companies to pop up was EpicVIN. The heading clearly stated Free *** Check before I clicked on it. The webpage also shows your free vin check is just a click away. Later on the page asks me for a dollar to see the *** history and I paid it without paying any mind (Oct 19, 62V998718N191580G, ******), realizing days later that they used the free *** check to get me into the page and the one dollar payment was actually a trial to get me into a 50USD monthly subscription. I sent them numerous emails, asking them for the money back, since I did not used their services (only once to see what were the terms and conditions, after I started the complaint) but a **** ***** from epicVIN responded this:We have reviewed your case and understand your concerns.However, as per the subscription terms agreed upon during the purchase, we are unable to issue a refund. We strive to ensure that all terms are communicated clearly and are committed to upholding them to maintain consistency and fairness for all our customers.If the website hadnt said Free Vincheck I wouldnt have used it, or I would have paid attention to the **** recurring payments than are in the **** small letters. They used that to lower my guard. I AM NOT GOING TO STOP UNTIL I GET MY MONEY BACK. IF I HAVE TO GET THE NATIONAL NEWS INVOLVED OR TAKE THEM TO COURT, I WILL DO SO.

      I am deeply disappointed and frustrated with my recent experience at EpicVin. On October 26, 2024, I paid $1.00 for what I believed to be a one-time service to review the vehicle report. I had no intention of signing up for any form of subscription. To my surprise, just two days later I was charged $99 without my knowledge or consent. I hadn't even registered for an account, yet I was automatically enrolled in a subscription.I immediately reached out to their customer support to request a cancellation and refund, but my request was denied outright. This experience feels misleading and unethical. A simple, one-time service was turned into an ongoing monthly charge that I never authorized and certainly dont want. Its infuriating to see that, despite numerous similar complaints onlineincluding many recent one-star reviews and complaints on the BBBEpicVin continues to operate this way, claiming transparency while ignoring customer feedback.I urge others to avoid this company entirely to avoid the hassle and frustration I've experienced.

I started chemo and wasnt going through my statements. Now I see theyve been charging me ***** for the past 5 months.       Misleading information. They offer to check 1 VIN number for $1.00, then charge you $100.99 and make you a monthly subscription for that amount. I have already contacted them by email. But they refuse to refund my $100.99 when in their refund policy you have 14 days to be reimbursed. I have 7 days.

This is robbing people with misleading information and then they refuse to refund the money without any reason.       The website was misleading and it was not clear I was signing up for a subscription. The $1 was price for a VIN report which I paid. I had no idea my payment information would then be used in 3 days for the large sum of $99.99.I received no communication or email from EpicVIN until the date they charged me $99.99. There was no subscription confirmation email, etc. I feel my enrollment into their subscription service was done surreptitiously and the business did not make it clear I was doing anything more than paying $1 for a sample VIN report.
