Early this year, 2024, I received a check, #******, dated Sept 28, 2023 from Aurora Diagnostics LLC for $32.30 for "Duplicate Payment" to ***************** Associates. When I looked it up in my records, I found the payments I made to ***************** on 5/22/23 and 6/11/23. When I tried to deposit the check into my Chase account, my bank said they couldn't accept the check. I asked if it was because of the elapsed time but they said, "No---we can't tell you why but you should have them re-issue a check to you before we can accept it." I finally tracked down the number of Aurora where I could get some assistance ***************), and they informed me that they were re-issuing the check. I called in early February to see if the check was coming and when I could expect it but received a recorded message saying they were closed due to an unexpected outage. I called again 2/29/24 and got the same message. Called again today and again got the same message. Something is up! I would love a refund of course but it won't make or break me. Someone should look into what the heck is going on though... Thanks.

      Business response

      04/11/2024

First of all, I sincerely apologize that we did not receive the first notice on this complaint.  And, while I'm not sure why the first check could not be cashed, I can certainly explain why the replacement check has not been issued.  On February 21st, our billing vendor Change Healthcare suffered a cyberattack and we not been able to access our systems since that time.  We do have a message posted on our website but I understand not everybody has accessed the website or may not have understood the relationship.   We will most certainly refund this money to ****************** but unfortunately, at this time, do not have a system to access to be able to review and/or process the information and check.  We are anticipating that we could be operational the week of April 22nd and hopefully research all information that week or soon after.  I will call ****************** and explain so I can talk to her personally and provide all my information so she has a contact.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. ******* from Aurora contacted me after leaving her response on the BBB, explained it again, gave me her cell phone number if I have any questions, and I feel like I'll get reimbursed. Mostly though, I'm just happy it wasn't a scam on their part and having an explanation of why things were crazy communication-wise (cyber attack), was helpful too. As an editorial comment, why can't these people, who are brilliant enough to wreak cyber attack havoc on healthcare industries, cure cancer or something useful with their talents?? Thanks for your help in getting me the answers to this weird puzzle.

      Sincerely,

      ***************************
