Marlon Walton was consulted to do renovations on my home November 2023. We discussed the project over the phone. He then came out to my home to look over the areas needing the renovation and provide a quote. We discussed a timeframe to start the renovation, once I received the funding to do so. I did not receive the funding by start date we had discussed in early December 2023, so I advised him I didnt feel comfortable starting the project unless I had all the funds in my account to pay for his services. I talked Mr. ********************** on 12/01/2023, he said we could push the start date to the first week in January, but he would need a $3000 deposit in order to keep the lower pricing on the flooring and cabinets/countertops. I again explained to Mr. ********************** that I did not feel comfortable paying anything or setting a date if the money isnt in my account by the end of December 2023. He insisted on the deposit and told me I would receive a full refund if I had to cancel due to the funds not being in my account by the end of December 2023. I advised him that I would pay the $3000 with a written guarantee that I would receive a full refund immediately if I had to cancel. He emailed me a written full deposit refund guarantee on the final quote for the renovation project. Well, long story short I didnt receive the funds before the start of the project. I reached out to Marlon Walton on 1/10/2024 to discuss the return of the $3000 deposit. He let me know that he was in ************** and returning Tuesday, 1/16/2024. We discussed him meeting with my Mom to give her the check, as I would be out of town during that week. He told me to have her call him so they could schedule a time and location. She called and he states his funds are still tied up, so be would get it to me directly. Here we are over 3 months later, several texts, and phone conversations later and hes only sent me $900. Hes made several promises to pay on multiple passed dates but I still havent received the $2100.Initial Complaint

I was given an estimate of $1600 to repair my driveway from tree damage. I paid a $900 deposit 1-19-24, which he was to start work the next day. He didnt show saying he had to attend a funeral. A few weeks went by and I asked for a refund and was told he has to return the items he purchased for the job to *********** *** contacted him numerous times and it is now April, still havent received a refund. In March sen me a picture and stated he was in the hospital but h*** refund my full deposit.Business response

I am rejecting this response because: It took multiple attempts for the BBB to get him to respond and he wants more time to refund my $900. He also wants to pay with a check that more than likely is stolen funds from another person that he has victimized or it could bounce leaving me responsible; no thanks. Please have him pay me immediately through ***** using my name and number. Thats how I paid him. Hes basically gotten a free loan from me by fraud which will encourage him to do this over and over again.

Hired this company to start repairs on my home after hurricane *** (66,000)Told me he could handle it all Gave him first job for $5000.00 to replace my ceilings ,insulation , texture and paint He did such a horrible job I had to hire a different company to fix his work and a cleaning company to clean the HUGE mess he made of my home Then found out he is only licensed for non Stuctual under **** $ no electrical with one employee But was going to do my stuctual work and the ceiling fan he installed fell 3 days later And his five man crew didnt speak any english working for cash I had to pay the crew everyday with my cash This man is taking advantage of people in need and working outside his license restrictions and tax libilaties He should not have a business license in this stateBusiness response

I am rejecting this response because:only paid for small amount of the damage I still have to redo the entire ceiling knock down and repaint
just because he offered a partial small refund didnt fix the rest of his work
how or why would I be happy with that solution??
