I entered into contract with Remodeling Group Plantation LLC on Nov 30, 2023 to complete a kitchen remodel. The work began on Dec 28. They contracted that they would complete by Jan 12, 2024. They did not meet this deadline. The final invoice came March 18, some 60 days later than promised. The initial invoice was $13,800. I ended up paying them directly $16,463. I found out along the way that there were other expenses I needed to pay that were not specified in the contract. This included cost for paint ($63.44), countertop ($4,740), flooring ($617.70) and other supplies ($49.77). The total for the job is $21,933.91. The contractor punctured the water line leading to the refrigerator when installing the water filter underneath the sink. On Apr 3, 2024, almost my entire house was flooded under the flooring (the new kitchen, living room, dining room, family room, and master bedroom. They are denying all wrongdoing. The issue went through arbitration which ended in my favor for only the home insurance deductible ($2,500) on my homeowners insurance. The contractor refuses to pay. In terms of shoddy workmanship, they left me with expenses for an electrical service and countertop repair. My first night of cooking in the new kitchen tripped the circuits! The countertop is not level and split at the point where water from the sink could destroy the cabinets below. See expenses to date:Remodel, including additional costs: $21,933.91 Electrician: $800 Plumber: $630 Temporary housing: $1,028 Estimate for home repair: $48,298.95 Expected to be paid by Insurance Water mitigation: $7,419.21 Mold: $10, ****** Air quality: $3,011.17 TOTAL: $93,461.20
