I recently signed a two year service contract with Quality Control Air of Sarasota, Inc. In fact, it was last week. They did a complete inspection of the two systems and gave me the green light on both units. Saturday night my air went out and stopped working. Not wanting to call a technician late that night I opted to call Sunday at 10 am. The technician ****************** was at my house in under an hour! Wow!He diagnosed the system in a short amount of time and had the part in his truck. After finishing the repair in a couple of minutes, my air was now operational. That's incredible service and support!****************** was very knowledgeable and explained what had happened completely.Since they had been out the week before for the initial inspection he didn't even charge for the part or the service call. Five stars for Quality Control Air of Sarasota, Inc. I will be recommending them to my friends and family.**************** in ********.Quality Control Air of Sarasota, Inc. Response

Quality Control Air of Sarasota recently helped my wife and I restore the AC in our Condo that was flooded by an upstairs unit. The water initially destroyed our existing AC unit and Brandyn T from Quality Control Air showed up on the same day that the problem was discovered. Brandyn helped us through the process of replacing the destroyed unit. Due to the recovery process we had to work around several contractors performing work and Brandyn was on top of what had to be done to get the AC up and running. He was competent, dependable and extremely personable. Matt L. played a key role in the installation and again did an outstanding job in getting the AC working in the condo. We are extremely pleased with the work of Brandyn and his team and would strongly recommend Quality Control Air of Sarasota.Quality Control Air of Sarasota, Inc. Response

Sam came out yesterday and tried to save our old Ac. After talking with Sam about our options we decided a new air conditioning unit was our best option. He was extremely knowledgeable, answered all of our questions and made us both very comfortable in purchasing decision. The installation team came and removed our old unit and put in a new unit all on the same day. They cleaned up after and did a great job. We didn't know who to call when our older ac broke down, but my wife remembered a flyer we had gotten, couldn't be happier with our experience. 5 stars all the way around.Quality Control Air of Sarasota, Inc. I purchased my condo 2.5 years ago. The prior owner purchased a Rheem model RA1430AJ1NA in July, 2017. I stuck with the company that had installed the unit, Quality Control Air of Sarasota. I entered into a 2x a year service contract with them.
When the service person, Frank, came last fall 9/30/21, he mentioned that the UV light on the unit was out, and the system should be replaced.
I asked him why this was necessary, as I had a 14 year old unit at my old area home, and never had a UV light in it. He indicated it was probably a "dry unit" as opposed to the Rheem AC, which he called a "wet unit". I asked him why they had installed a wet unit, and he indicated it was required by the EPA.
He told me the UV kit would cost $685. But I'd have a 5 year warranty from that point forward, and they would extend my service contract by two years, so saving about $260 on that.
Now, the next part is on me. I should have requested an estimate and researched. I trusted that I was being given factual information. Silly me.I signed the form, & he did the work.
Afterwards (shame on me), I looked more closely at the invoice, which showed a line item charge for the $685. I called Quality and spoke with Ray. I asked him the question about the UV light unit, and he informed me that they did not replace the UV light UNIT--that charge was just for replacing the light! I asked him why it was necessary, and HIS response was, "well, it depends on your duct work"--nothing about a wet or dry system.
The distributor's website shows a wholesale charge for that part # is $124! I called Quality. It took me 3 calls to get an invoice with a line item cost breakdown.Once I did, I knew why. For starters, they charged a 357% mark-up for the bulb. Plus costs for other work I did not really understand.
Two other AC service companies have since told me I was hoodwinked. No need for the UV light unless one has asthma or breathing issues. Want others NOT to be taken by these folksQuality Control Air of Sarasota, Inc. Response

The homeowner had a routine maintenance call, upon arrival the uv system was not working and it was showed to the home owner the ballast was burnt out and there was no warranty left . The tech made recomendations and the the homeowner moved forward . The work that was completed was clean out air handler sanitize air handler sanitize ducts, install new low voltage transformer and new uv system. The home owner is saying she found the uv system at a price of $124.00 . I wish we paid that cheap. Also we are a Buisness that has overhead and certified technicians who also get paid there hourly wages. The chemicals for cleaning and Sanitizing are not cheap either.
The homeowner stated she had other HVAC companies say that the uv system is not needed unless you have allergies is not a true statement. Uv systems extend the life of you system by keeping the surface area of the evaporator coil clean and prevent break downs and microbial growth from forming. Also uv systems help your home with becoming a air purified home.
I personally spoke to The home owner in September 2021 and she told me over the phone she understands the fees now we are getting a complaint 6 months later.
Sorry for any confusion regarding this manner.

My complaint is not with my stupidity( which I freely admitted) but in trusting a business when they totally fabricated a need to get me to part with $685 for absolutely no reason. Three other air conditioning companies in the Sarasota/Bradenton area with over 80 years combined service tell me that this "wet unit v dry unit" stuff is a complete fabrication, as was the ductwork response from Ray as well. They all also confirmed that it's fine to get a UV light, but totally unnecessary for the average user. The only reason I am filing this is at the encouragement of everyone I've spoken with about this business. I don't want anyone else in this area to be hoodwinked by Quality Control Air of Sarasota, as I regrettably was.
