I am making a complaint against this business because the complete disgrace that the company doing such a awful job with measurements on my home. There are different measurements on each end of the top corners of the fascia, they have 3 inches, and 1 inch of the fascia that is terribly noticeable, and the owners comments were that this is his standard business and it looks GREAT...I called him and told him this was unexceptable and he said that he was not doing anything about ***** husband that has been in Construction his whole life said he has never seen measurements like this and the owners comments were that he didn't know gutters ..I want a partial refund or this fixed. We paid $2200 and he said it should of been more..Anyone that has gotten gutter's done by this company should look at the end measurements of there fascia and see what a awful job this company has done or maybe it was just the workers they put on our home. The owner *** said it was just a unhappy wife that, is why my husband has said anything.I wouldn't be concerned as much if I lived in a home that I didn't really care about but I live in a $700,000 home and this is NOT quality work that someone says that they have been in business for 30 years looks like..

BBB, thanks for the opportunity to tell my side of the story with the *******.

**** ****** initially contacted me 2 years ago regarding gutters for his house.  Let that sink in 2 years ago for gutters.  I went to the ******* home and did an estimate for the work they requested.  Currently on the house there were white, 6 K style gutters installed with hidden hangers and white 3 x 4 downspouts, this is still the industry standard.  There were no gutters on the right back side (an L) of the house.  There was extensive erosion around the house both where the existing gutters were and where there were no gutters including some large holes or voids under the foundation. I asked him why he wanted to replace them, since the new gutters would be exactly the same as the old gutters.  He said that they did not really work well and just wanted new.  I told him that some of the problem was that their house had freeze board.  ************ is a 1x2 pine board installed at the top of the fascia under the drip edge.  This is a northern building technique and not required here because it doesnt freeze.  The problem with that is the 1 x 2 is actually x 1 , it doesnt provide the support needed for the back of the 6 gutter that is 5.15 tall.  The result is that the gutters sag at the bottom and do not look good or drain well.  He told me that he was in the construction industry and worked for a general contractor but did not know or realize that.  As a result the old gutters should be removed first and a 1 x 4 board should be installed to bridge the gap and properly support the gutter.  I told him that the boards could be wood that may rot out over time or we could do PVC board.  I gave him the price for both options and he said that it was too expensive and he would do it himself.  I told him no problem.  He asked if we could remove the gutters and he would install the boards while we were there.  I told him we could do that but the gutters were packed full of debris (this is why the gutters were overflowing and causing wash outs and erosion).  He said that he would clean them out before we arrived and would be ready for us when we arrived.  I told him that because of all the large oak trees on the property he should let us install gutter guards to keep the debris out.  I told him the price.  He said that it was too expensive and would just clean them out as needed. I told him to give me a few minutes while I completed the proposal.  I gave him the color chart to select colors.  He took it to his wife to look at.  They chose a color.  I gave him a few options to look at as well.  I completed the estimate/proposal.  At this time he asked for a discount and I told him that was the best price I could do.

It was a few days later he contacted me and said that they had made a decision and what they wanted (they had some changes).  I revised the proposal to include the changes.  ******* times over the next few months **** contacted me and wanted to make changes in the gutters and the colors.  I again revised and sent him the updated proposals.

Then I heard nothing for a long while.   Then a couple of months ago he contacts me again about the gutters.  They had more changes, again I revised the proposal he again asked for a discount.  It was 2 years ago when I first did the estimate. I explained to him that prices had indeed gone up over the LAST 2 YEARS.  I did work with him and again gave him the best price I could.  He told me his wife was not happy with any of the colors we had and that he would have to paint them so just install white gutters and downspouts.   He told me that the install would have to be on a Friday when he could be there.  We agreed on a date.  A few days before the date, he called and needed to change the date to the following Friday.  I accommodated him as requested.  I told him that the crew would arrive around 800am.  ******* arrived but **** was not there.  They knocked on the door, no one answered.  ******* called me asking what to do as **** was not there as agreed to be ready to install the boards as the gutters were removed.  I called Mark.  He said that he was on the way.  I told him that my crew could not wait for him.  We may have to remove the gutters and come back after he had installed the boards.  This again was done to try and accommodate him.  This would create extra expense for us.  He arrived 15 minutes later or about 45 minutes after the crew had arrived. ******* started to remove the gutters and found that they were full to the top of debris.  There are several large oak trees on the property that dropped a lot of leaves.  I doubt that they had been cleaned out at all since I was there 2 years ago.  This created extra work, expense for me and was very nasty and dirty, but we did it.  **** had originally (2 years earlier) had agreed to clean them out before we got there.  The property is several acres with ***** on the left and trees in the front.  Not well maintained or manicured. ******* asked **** if they could put the debris from the gutters around the trees and in the *****.  He said yes. ******* worked around **** waiting for him occasionally to remove the old gutters.  **** did install the 1x4s.  We installed the gutters behind him as he went.  **** only installed the 1x4s were necessary and not on the gables.  ******* finished installing the gutters; they always do this before ever installing any downspouts.  For one downspout location my crew had a question on location.  They asked **** and he told them where to put it. Again all gutters were hung.  Shortly thereafter **** got in his truck and left without a word.  You would think him being in the construction industry would verify work as it went on, but he did not.  We scheduled the job based on his request for day and time so he could be present.  It seems that he went to work, and then left work to install the 1x4s (delaying my crew) then had to rush back to work.  ******* finished the job and wrapped up.  They knocked on the door to let his wife know they were done (she was there the whole time but never came out). She could easily have come out to look at the work but did not.

Later in the afternoon **** (the wife) called me and was ranting and raving that we did a terrible job and were not happy.  By this time it had started to rain.  I told her that I would be right over to look at the work.  She commented in the rain.  I said yes, what better time to look and make sure the gutters were working properly.  While enroute, pictures of the work were texted to me.  I pulled over to look at them. The work looked great.  I called who I thought was ****.  **** answered the phone I told her the work looked great and was properly done.  She started again on how bad they looked and the measurements were off and the gutters were too long.  I told her I would be there shortly.  It took about 20 minutes to get there. By that time she and **** were outside waiting for me.  She started in about what a terrible job was done and she was not happy.  She then told me she lived in a $700,000 house (she was very proud of this) and this made her house look bad.  I told here we worked on all value properties.  From barns, metal buildings and mobile homes to multi million dollar homes.  We do all our work the same to the best of our ability.  **** just stood there without a word said.  She said that the gutters were too long 1-3 long (they were not).  I looked at the work.  I was standing on the front right corner of the house.  From there I could see 4 of the 7 end caps.  Since **** did not put the 1x4s on the ***** the gutters appear to be too long, if he had installed the 1x4 on the ***** it would have spanned another .  The work looked great.  I told her that the gutters had to be -1longer that the roof edge to capture all the water.  If you end the gutter even with the roof water will drip off of the gutter to the ground.  At the end of the gutter is an end cap that is wide so this is necessary.  She said that he old gutter did not do that and ended short and she had pictures.  I told here that is one of the reasons that they had erosion because the gutters were too short.  I then told her that if she liked the old gutters she should have hired the same company to do the replacement.  Then she didnt like my crew and did not want them back on her property.  She said they were terrible.  She then complained that my crew cleaned out the gutters and threw the debris in the trees.  She said she cleans out the trees and ***** them.  I told her that her husband was supposed to clean out the gutters before we got there if he had done it this would not be a problem.  In addition they asked him if they could put the debris under the trees, he told them it was OK.  She then commented that if she had she know that we were not cleaning out the gutters she would have hired someone else.  I told her that she probably should have and that I wish we had not done the job as well.  I told her that I should have charged more to clean the gutters out but did not.  At this point she lost it.  This whole time her husband stood silently in the background. I then told them the gutters were property installed, it was raining and not leaking all the water was going into the gutters and into the downspouts was it should.  I told them I would like to get paid for my work.  Then **** told his wife to go in the house and get the credit card, she left.  While she was gone he told me that his wife could be hard to deal with at times. Could we come back and cut the gutters back.  At this time his wife returned.  I told them that the gutters were properly installed and during the installation if they were unhappy any corrections could have been made no problem.  Since they did not, and want us to return and make adjustments we could but there would be an additional charge.  Again **** lost it; Im not paying more and was getting quite animated.  I took the credit card info.   I was starting to get concerned for my safety at that time and told them thank you for their business and started to leave.  She then started threatening me and told me that she was going to report us to everyone, the BBB and everyone else.  I told her for what doing a fine quality job?  I do have the pictures to prove it that they sent me.

Later that day their daughter that was not even there posted a bad review on ********.  I looked her up;she lives in ***** and goes to USF.  Apparently **** does not use ******** and is trying every means to slander me and my family business.  Either **** or her daughter on behalf of mother then did negative post on ******, Angis, Front Door and BBB.  As a result of the negative slander my phone traffic for estimates is down and out business has suffered.  I am strongly considering legal action for slander for ****, **** and their daughter.

I ask that you do not post this complaint.  There is no basis for it.  I do stand behind our work and give a 2 year warranty on material and workmanship. This was not poor workmanship; it was personal preference and would not allow the gutter system to work properly. Please look at the other reviews on all the other sites.  You will see that we please our customers.  If you do your work, you will see that this is not the way we do business. Never have and never will.  You are the Better Business Bureau not a mouthpiece for disgruntled customers that just want their way. She really wants a huge discount you could I can now see that from the first time I met them 2 years ago.  We are a good family owned business that has been in *************** for over 22 years.  My son is my lead installer and is very particular and does only good quality work.  We only have 1 crew of 3 total people.  I would hate for your organization to be partially responsible for our business failure.

      Complaint: 22232184

I am rejecting this response because:

First of all, It doesn't matter how long it was before I replaced my gutters or that my gutters were (dirty).

If the employee's knocked at my door I would have heard my dog's barking..

The reason for this complaint is the fact that this Company didn't have the same measurements at the end of each run, standard trade practice would make them all the same at each end, this is my complaint..

I am 5'1and weigh ******************************************************************************** my house, how he could say he was scared of me when he told me on the phone that I am coming over NOW, was a little scary to me..

This owner knows,  and refused to look at the end corners of my house and to see the work that his family members did to my gutters and make every excuse up other than the facts that he sent them to my house and they need to go and learn how measurements are taken. If there is a standard practice,  then make sure that standard practice is followed everywhere. That would be the way to do it, not different measurements at every location. That is not a professional installation. That is a company that doesn't care what it looks like,  just get it done and move on to the next paying customer.

      Sincerely,

      **** ******
