On October 8, I was in ******** for a funeral and could not return to ******* due to the impending Hurricane ******. My daughters brought my car to the Publix parking garage AFTER the store had closed early (due to the hurricane) and parked it in a tow zone that was the only space available. At 9pm, Skyway Towing & Recovery towed my car to their lot which was GROUND LEVEL, not only being a predatory practitioner and towing my car in my daughters' attempt to keep it safe, but then putting it in their lot in a vulnerable place. When I called today (October 31) to talk about the possibility of a refund, the owner was extremely rude and would not discuss the matter or even give me his name. I've read numerous reviews of this business and find that their practices look very shady and predatory.

Towing of vehicle occurred on 8/9/24 - Skyway towing charged higher than marked rate for towing class A vehicle in *************** of $147 - they charged $350 - Stated the only form of payment is cash which is incorrect as county ordinance states major credit cards and debit cards must be accepted in addition to cash - Refused to provide an appropriate invoice and threatened to not release the vehicle. The invoice provided had no information on the actual fee/billing section as it did not transfer to the pink sheet and refused to rewrite the invoice

I have been a tenant in good standing for over a year at the Marbleside Building in downtown St Petersburg and I have two assigned parking spaces that have signs on them. These are signs that I paid for and these spaces are mine for me and for clients specific to my business. Today my car was towed. I was not called, texted, or otherwise contacted by Skyway Towing. Instead, I leave work today only to find that my car is missing. Upon calling Skyway I found that they had towed my car without calling or texting me. Again, these are my assigned spaces and I am supposed to call if someone other than me or my clients are occupying them. This practice by Skyway is incredibly predatory! I have multiple cars, my clients park in these spaces, and I work weekends from time to time. What am I to do? My car was geared into 'park' when I left it, and I am concerned about possible damage to the vehicle as it was "yanked" from the spot. It is not okay that they just take cars without letting the tenant know that they are doing so. It also took four phone calls and 30 minutes for them to return the vehicle. I do not feel safe leaving any of my cars in my parking spaces now.

December 29th 2023 I was parked in a parking lot where I paid my on phone until 4:45 PM when I returned to my car. It was gone and found out it had been towed at 4:20. Before my parking pay parking even ran out. I took an Uber to the towing lot skyway towing recovery, the attendant, ****, was extremely rude and argumentative and claimed that there were problems with the parking app in the past, but still insisted on charging me full towing price.

Our car was towed from the ************* parking lot at ~8pm on the night of 8/10/2022. When we arrived at Skyway Towing ~9pm the gate was locked. When the operator arrived he was visibly agitated. He tried to take credit card and license through the gate and wouldnt let us in to inspect our vehicle (a violation of ******** state statute 715.07(9)). After asking to be let onto the property, the employee started yelling and cussing at us, and attempting to leave the property. He closed his truck door on me multiple times. Eventually, we allowed him to take the card and license inside the property. We paid the fee, signed for our vehicle without being allowed to inspect it, and left the property. ~30 minutes later the employee called us from his personal phone, accusing me of stealing property (the lock from the gate) threatening to call the police and telling me to enjoy the night in jail. Overall, getting towed is never pleasant. However the Skyway Towing company is not following Florida state law and is physically and verbally aggressive with customers.

We were parked in a regions bank spot. We entered through an entrance that is NOT marked as a no tow zone. We saw spots that were marked as reserved, but we did NOT park in a reserved spot. So we were in a spot, in an entrance that had NO demarcation. We were parked 8-9. When we got to the tow yard, there were 3 other people there that had had their car towed by the same guy. He's capitalizing off the fact that not all parking places are clearly marked. The city needs to either CLEARLY mark these spaces, because this is a scam. He's taking advantage of the fact that there are not always clear markings regarding prohibited/allowed parking. We were not offered a receipt.

My car was towed from Bandit Coffee at 8:35pm. I was told I was able to pick it up that evening. After arriving the individual working didn't immediately open the gate. He told me the initial payment was $137 and took my card and ID between the gate. Once asked what the break down of payment was, he said "it's on the sign" and pointed to the side. We asked him to verbalize it since we were not inside the gate to see it. He said no we can read it and proceeded to call me partner a " ********* ******". After opening the gate and letting me get my car he never handed me a paper receipt and never gave me any record of what I actually paid for. Which is a clear violation of state law. It was $4/mile but the distance from where he picked it up was less than a mile. The employee was rude, abrupt, beyond unprofessional and did not follow guidelines of providing written proof of charges. Unprofessional, disgustingly rude, and not compliant. The BBB needs to stop accepting verbal responses which are so clearly blatant lies and actually take action against this business. I will be taking this up with the Pinellas office of consumer protection as well.
