Melvin quoted me $12,500 in labor for several house projects. He quoted an additional $3500 in other jobs for a total of $16000. he promised me he'd have the project done by April 20th 2022 in the contract. We also agreed it'd be $200 a day penalty for every day he was late. I paid him $9000 and its may 2nd, he's only done about 25 precent done. Of the work he did, the plumbing wasn't done correctly, the shower doesn't drain but instead pools against the corners, the ceiling tile isn't straight and runs into itself at an angle, the sink hole was cut incorrectly in a live oak sink, and the carpet was put down as the very first thing so its ruined because all the contractors were walking on it during construction and spilled paint on it. The plumbing was so bad I had to hire a plumber for a consultation who told me none of the piping he laid was usable. he also used did the toilet valve wrong and use spray foam to fill the gap. see photos attached. Instead of finishing the job he's walking out, now I'm out $9000.Customer response

****** didn't actually do the work himself. He told me he had a crew of guys and decades of experience and this would be no problem. The second I agreed on the price with him he got on ********** started looking for guys to do the work for less than I was paying him. The guy he ended up hiring left at 1:30 pm every day and tried to cram 8 hours of work into 5 hours. ****** said this guy had a crew, which is what was needed for the scope of the project, but the guy he hired showed up by himself.
Thats the reason the project still hasn't been completed. Because the property is an ****** this is costing me $300-$400 a night which is why I put a penalty clause in the contract. ****** happily agreed to the penalty clause to get my business but once he realized the guy he hired off of ********** was way behind and his work needed to re done, he walked away from the job and told me to work with another contractor.
****** and I agreed on the phone that the delays caused by not having tile picked out cost about 1 day. We are now 3 weeks past due.
The other job that ****** mentioned was also done incorrectly. he purchased the wrong color paint despite giving him the code from *******************************, he left a hole in the drywall for a non existent light, he never finished texturing the ceiling, and worst of all the water int he shower pooled in the corners and wouldn't drain. again, this was a guy he hired off craiglist.
attached is a text showing where he put carpet as the floor in the kitchen after we talked about vinyl, also showing where he was late in finishing the other project.
he continually promised to hit deadlines without having any crew or guys in place, knowing he would get my business if he said yes.
I also attached a picture of the new crew completely ripping out the bathroom floor he laid as well as the tile walls.
theres a screen shot of me showing how frustrated I was that he was late despite having guests check in.
I texted him on April 19th asking if it would be done by tomorrow and he said he had an emergency.
attached is another screenshot where I asked him to match the shower ceiling to the bathroom and he tried to charge me extra, despite having already agreed to the work.
attached is another screen shot of ****** admitting the guy he he hired was only working 5 hours a day using his 15 y/o son as his "help".
attached is another screen shot showing how the drain for the sink was going up hill and his guy left at 1030 am for the day.

My client and I did come to a contractual agreement for $16000 but he did not tell you on the contract it also said I'm not responsible for any delays beyond my control, design changes, picking out materials, waiting for materials buying materials out my pocket when he needs be available or shopping with his designer as explained all these things delays the project significantly. The clients never had anything prepare for us like have a bunch of material and furniture in our way we constantly had to move which i not paid to do per contract. The client paid me partial payment for one completed job of $2500 owes me $800 and i haven't gotten paid paint and materials i paid for out of my own pocket $350. So i told him i can't continue to do this and found someone else to complete his project. What i have done so far is equal to what i paid him minus the $1250 who owes me. I would call this contract even with delays he caused my company and the $1250 he owes me.Business response

I would like to respond to ********************. I still stand by original response. As you know installworxs has a guarantee of service we provide to our customers. As promised even though I had to bring in new sub contractors to complete your project the project was completed. Even though you had me running around picking up equipment which you promised you would do.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because installwerx is not an actually company. It's a guy named ****** who finds jobs, then goes on ********** to hire the lowest price contractors and marks up the price. He didn't vet the contractors he hired and they had no experience with the type of jobs he hired them for, as shown in my photos. Fixing the problems he caused cost much more than the original job.
Sincerely,
Austin Hair
