James M***** of Miller’s Metropolitan Handyman Services agreed to perform work on my house and car. He said he was licensed & insured. He performed several tasks on the house. He took a payment for $998 to fix my car, however, after a month no work has been done on the car by him and he has never shown back up to do any work on it. Mr M***** said it would be a one day fix. He never returned and claimed shipping issues was the problem. He tried to get even more money claiming the parts didn’t come in and he would have to order another part that was more. He has not responded in over a week to any messages, no repairs have been made to the car. I have asked for a refund and he has not responded. He is no longer responding to any text or phone messages. I requested a refund or the car fixed and he has ignored my request. I will also have to now contract with another electrician and plumber to check the work done.

On 10/27, *********************** was paid a $1000 deposit for the job. On 10/29, he lied to my mother (who was representing me since I just gave birth) saying he needed $400 for supplies, she gave him $300 because that's what she had. The supplies were already listed in the contract as included in the price. The only items not listed were $11 for 3 angle brackets and 9 tapcon screws. ***** committed to prepping and tiling a shower within a week of the start day 10/28. 5 weeks later, barely any work was completed and ***** kept making many excuses why he couldn't make it to the job site. He did not try to resolve the problem because he wouldn't show up when he said he would, especially the last 4 days of the 5 weeks. I requested he give $800 of the $1300 back so the contract could be cancelled. He refused. He had paid $215 in supplies and only performed work to include adding 7 bags of cement to the shower floor but making the slope way too steep, cutting 2 walls of cement board to remove the lower 2 feet and attach 1x6 wood around shower, replace screws in shower, sealed cracks and s**** holes only above removed cement board, incorrectly install shower pan liner (didn't come high enough on shower head wall and has to be removed and a new one installed; confirmed by another tile installer), and painted redgard sealant on top of the pan liner which is against the manufacturer install instructions for the liner and the walls. I feel $500 is enough to cover cost of supplies and the small amount of work done over a big delay, especially when part of it was done incorrectly and has to be fixed.

Upon verbal agreement and on paper James Miller stated we had a year warranty on product and services. When he mudded the walls and tried to sand them in prep to painting which we told him we would paint. Because of his inability to correct he put up thick board to cover it. A garage entry plate was placed over the doorway. We did not know he used it to cover up a tile that was destroyed. His ability to place 2 shelves inside the shower. He caulked and used tape. One has fallen. He replumbed the bathroom--now water pressure is minimal. We have contacted him several times over the last several months. He promises to come, but never shows up. He quoted the job prior to starting. When he figured out he misquoted he tried to use sub-quality materials (vanity, mirror, caulk, etc). He did not properly seal bathroom tile. We want a refund for the work that needs to be repaired.

I hired James M***** of Miller's Metropolitan Handyman Services, LLC to insulate and cover the roof of my Florida room and to insulate, panel and install a portable air conditioner in the room. He quoted me a price of $2,500 for labor and material and I gave him the contract. I paid half ($1,250) up front with the balance due upon completion of the work. He requested an additional $300 (cash) for more material, which I gave him and he signed that he had received the additional monies. This left a balance of $950 due upon completion of the work. He located a portable air conditioner at ****'s and arranged for me to pay for it via phone with ****'s, which I did. (This equipment was not included in our contract and I expected to pay separately for it.) I asked him to bring me the receipt, which he lost and has not yet found. I contacted ****'s (in Titusville) and was emailed the receipt which included not only the air conditioner and parts for installation but an additional $181.71 for materials included in the original quote. He (and his brother, *****) did the work and collected the final payment. The next day I noticed that the paneling was buckling and lifting off the walls. This made me look closer at the project and found it to be in need of additional work. I contacted Mr. M***** (via text) on August 8th and he didn't get back in touch with me until the 12th, at which time he said he was really busy and would get back with me. I also sent him several photos of the problems that he needed to correct. He has not responded to any more inquiries from me. I have since had someone else look at the work and he agrees that it is of the poorest quality he has ever seen. It's going to cost me additional money to fix this fiasco and by filing this complaint I am hoping that no other 'elderly' or other person gets taken in by this fraud.
